I think the internet outrage is just trollbots working for the CCP. Thousands of them working in boiler rooms spouting whatever serves the party's talking points of the day. Pretty soon between the GOP, CCP and Russia no one will give a second look at internet 'opinions'. I know on Twitter, no one bothers to look at the replies now.
Ohh yeah the government has spent tons of effort to "embrace culture and languages". That's why they banned cantonese from television, websites, signs, and documents? So that people can't watch tv or radio in their own language? It's like the embrace of Count Drakula.
Lol did u read anything I posted or are u just a r****d? The entire ****ing Guangdong province speaks Cantoe, plenty of people speak NOTHING BUT Cantoe, and it's been like this for ****ing 70 years. How did the government destroy that dialect? Same goes for every dialect in province or city in China. Mandarin is the official dialect and is the only one everybody can understand. They have English channels and English is also mandatory class in school, does that mean they are destroying Mandarin too?
I’m sure there were some legit Chinese rockets fans that were upset , but I would agree with you that was probably a small part of the internet outrage There should be very few US rockets fans that care , most probably even support Morey I understand what tilman did and why he did it. I respect that the GM can make statements that don’t reflect the views of the team and the league. Big non-story Unless you just wanna jump on Tilman, which the dude is brash and talks too much. In an ideal world he wouldn’t do that , but can’t pick your owner lol.
It’s not about Morey’s message or if it’s right or wrong. It’s all about money. Think about it, if it’s Enes Kanter will make a post to call out the dictatorship in Turkey ( which he did for last few years), and any NBA GM or owners went on the social media to tell him to shut the fork up? When your owner is throwing you under the bus for making a few more bucks from a dictatorship market, that’s the ****ing problem. And if Tilman will post a soft message like you suggested, he knows China will hate him more than no response.
There are no rules that suggest that organizations that aren't dedicated to political can't make political statements. It's really that simple.
Does this rule apply to players too or just front office people? Teams make political statements all the time. This is just about dollars, not politics.
And Morey expressed his opinions not during a Rockets broadcast, but on a social media while he is living in a country that he has absolutely the rights to express what his views about. It’s a joke for those whose living in a country actually don’t even have the rights to say their real feelings and facts to threaten a guy whose executing his own rights in a free world.
Clutch fans is a basketball forum and you aren’t a mod. Stop trying to act like one loser. Go rockets! Go morey!
Btw, based on your logic, the Rockets and the NBA each year will have lots activities like Black History month and Hispanic History month, those are also clearly political messages promoting anti-discrimination and human rights. Did you ever send any protests to Silver or Tilman to express your anger? I know for a fact that many Chinese people are openly discriminate black and Muslins on their own social media and there is always this double standard allowing it to happen.
Even if you accept that premise (which I don't ) it still doesn't matter bc Morey is not just Houston rockets. He is alot other things in addition to being a gm or an employee of the rockets.
How come you arent mentioning all the vandalizing and crime they're committing? Are all Protesters doing this? No, but dont act like the protesters arent causing havoc. They vandalized hundreds of shops, looted the mall last night, shut the subway system. What would happen if that **** happened in New york city? If Occupy Wall street did that **** they'd all be thrown in Jail. Tillman did the right thing. This is business. Bunch of left wingers being butt hurt. Business is business. Morality in business LOL
Dude it’s the NBA. Look at Steve Kerr and Mark Cubans Twitter feed for two seconds. Expression of ideas is what and real personalities contributing to a community that so many people engage with for more than just basketball is what makes the NBA special. Yes there is a limit to how much someone should throw their political opinions out there but it has always been part of the community of players, coaches, commentators, owners, etc. If the league started enforcing “shut up and dribble” stances the league would be much much worse for it.
I fully expect Tilman to try and show his deep appreciation for Chinese culture and curry favor with the Chinese people by purchasing Panda Express.
Its 100% okay to make political statements except if it's protesting systematic racist or police brutality. That'll get you permanently blackballed
