This won't end well. Tillman is a hot head and once we start losing those Chinese partnerships ... heads will roll.
If you want to see samples of the fan outrage, read the comments to a new tweet by Morey. fwiw: I believe NMSL means "your mom is dead" (你妈死了) -- a common internet insult.
The treatment of Hong Kong by China is nothing short of disgusting. I’m sure Morey is wishing he had tweeted nothing but I support him for taking the moral high road.
Tilman made a smallest brush fire (filled with quite a number of troll/bot accounts) into a 5 alarm blaze with this ridiculously bad tweet. Morey probably should’ve refrained for his own sake tweeting that remark, but for Tilman to throw him under the bus like that is egregiously bad. He’s not a booster, or just a fan of the Rockets anymore. He’s the major stakeholder of the franchise for crying out loud. Tilman should’ve called his GM and told him to take it down. If he needed to post something about it let his PR team handle it. Instead now he has a lame duck coach and a GM he just embarrassed in front of millions of people. Tilman needs to take his book title’s advice immediately and stop airing this stuff publicly. I feel awful for the Rockets organization and what will need to be done to clean this mess.
Yep, handled this the worst way. Obviously, once the tweet was put out (then deleted) you have a chat with Morey. Tell him you respect his morals, blah blah blah, but this is a business, blah blah blah and then you think about the spin. Maybe it was mistweet or hacked or whatever, a mistake all the same. Then you call up Yao and see if there is any way he can smooth things over and you move on. The way he handled it means it now has to be dealt with.
Daryl Morey huge mistakes is coming from random Twitter posts that lead to rumors or Shots taken at the Warriors, Adam Silver and the crooked referees. I know he wants to do say something, but it usually backfires in Warriors getting extra motivation or Referees rigging games even more. Adam Silver and MVP Voters ignoring James Harden for MVP.
