I feel confident we win one of those games. Consider that OU lost their leading tackler and we beat them last year by running Gray and Brown down their throats. The only big loss last year was Jeffcoat which is a big deal but the other brown will have a good year and hopefully fill that defensive line playmaker.

The Texas season really depends on the health of 3 guys. Gray, Hicks and Ash. Hicks needs to be solid to plug the middle of the field and Gray has to be there to give Ash some breathing room. If we can get lucky enough and have those 3 guys for the whole season I feel really good about beating at least 1 of those teams. Baylor is again overrated. They play a joke of a schedule and will build fluff wins. Hopefully the big 12 can regulate non-conference scheduling now that they can make some of their own rules. Every team should be required to schedule a team from either the Pac 12, Big 10, ACC or SEC.

This team was a win away from winning the conference. It's not as bad as Charlie Strong wants everyone to believe. We will see if his run you till you piss blood philosophy pays off. I think everyone will pay particular note to the tackling on defense which was often noted as a very soft spot on the defense.

I'm sure this post will get me another rep with a comment similar to "7th in the SEC about equal to 1st in the sad Big 12. Big 12 is minor league these days. Everyone knows it. UT really blew it."

Dude doesn't have the balls to say that publicly and explain how the 2nd place big 12 team beat Alabama.

This is silly. Baylor won the conference outright that year. Regardless of non-conference scheduling, they went head-to-head against everyone in the conference and came out on top. They beat Texas by 20 and OU by 30. If they are overrated, then the whole conference sucks.

And our 2nd place team got crushed by your overrated Baylor team.

These are all fair points. Baylor went on to lose to UCF and OU went on to beat Alabama. Perhaps that speaks to the parity in the big 12.

I think you are vastly undervaluing the difference in a single win between teams. That is when the fact that teams like Baylor only schedule easy wins and other teams schedule tough more even match ups becomes very important. At least there is a round robin where every team plays every team and a win against Baylor would overcome that loss.

We had Arkansas and Ole Miss recently, but unfortunately both decided to suck by the time we got around to playing them. (Yes, I know Ole Miss still won last year.)

Yeah, but I mean neither of those have had the pedigree of Florida over the last decade or so. I'm hoping LSU, SC, etc. are also in the future.

A&M should be the only OOC SEC opponent that Texas should be able to play. That rivalry is too special to be replaced by Texas v. Florida, which admittedly, is an intriguing match up, but I'd swap it for Longhorn v. Aggy any day.

Watch A&M try to hold a rally at the South Carolina capitol in Columbia. So the ice cream men thought they would hold pep rally on state capital steps and not be heckled by USC fans. Do they know how weird it must look to non aggy? It is 4 weirdos in overalls leading a rabble of more weirdos in strange chants, rhythmic clapping, and choreographed squatting. How can you not heckle it?

The only huge loss from lost from last year's team is Jackson Jeffcoat. We are getting back David Ash. We are also getting back Gray after going 0-2 after we lost him last year.

Is this year a failure if the team does not get to 9 wins? This team should be better on paper than last year. It's a miracle we won any games with Case.

All A&M/Missouri are proving is the sec is overrated. Both were mediocre in the Big 12.

Well Missouri feasted on injury-riddled opponents as their team finally was healthy for once, and everybody expects a big regression. A&M might have been mediocre in the Big 12, but Sumlin wasn't the coach. Sumlin has proven to be an offensive genius and changed the team, so past A&M teams are irrelevant.

Looking at bowl records, national championships, recruiting, etc...the SEC is still easily tops, though the gap may not be as wide as it was.
