Dirk's 2011 Finals performance is one of the best ever! He has proven that one all star can beat three all stars.

Harden will do the same this year! Taking down Warrior's 5 all stars.

I’ve hated you something awful for too long to remember Dirk. Thanks for the memories and as stated earlier, you were one worthy competitor.

I'm confused...is he officially retiring? If not, what's the point of this thread?

Thats what KD said. Dirk hasn't said he is retiring. Its the league trying to bush him out. He is getting Melo'd.

He won a championship by himself. I don't think you can overrate that. The only other person to do that is Dream.

The impact of Tyson Chandler on defense in that win is highly underrated. Dirk hardly played any defense in the playoff run. Tyson immediately left the Mavs afterwards, and Dirk took a nosedive. Dirk also had Jason Kidd with him. He is arguably one of the best point guards of all time. Kidd had developed an effective jumper during that run.
The Dream was the best two way center of all time, with a back to back championship in his belt.
It's not right to compare the two of them.

Of course he had some role players but Kidd average 7 points a game that season and their second best player on the team was Jason Terry. Dirk willed them to the championship.

    How I hate Dirk...

He seemed unstoppable during his championship run in 2011. His shot was unblockable and super reliable. He did to Okc and Miami what CP3 was doing to Golden State before the injury. Making clutch shot after clutch shot. I hope Hardens new floater can be as reliable as Dirks fade away, cause we know his step back three wont always fall.

Man, Michael Finley didn't age well.

Never liked the Mav's, but honestly this early 2001 - 2004 team was something to be proud of for a Mavs fan. This team brought them to the playoffs for the first time in 11 years

Do not ever compare Dirk to Dream or Dream's championship run.
Hakeem literally just had role players surrounding him. He was the one man army on both ends of the floor.
Dirk had Shawn Marion playing well former all star, Jason Terry Sixth man of the year winner, jason kidd former all star, tyson chandler defensive second team hell even won gold at the olypics... peja stojakovic..
No former allstars on that Rockets team besides the Man ,the Dream, himself.
2011 Fluke championship... never won back to back to prove it.. Any wins by the Mavs will always have an asterisks over it.
