If it's Joe Chee, I'd be stunned. I'd think it'd be lower. I'm okay with him sucking, he may be something in the future. That alone warrants a spot over the Garbage Mamba. SIL
But you have to admit . . .Yao was skinny as hell his rookie year I think that is where the comparison is Zhou had to put on weight and strength. . .. no way around it. If he were quicker and faster I would be ok with him being thin but being slow AND weak is not what's happening in this league Also . . Zhou has to learn to play above the rim I want to see Zhou do some Nasty dunks on people and give them the YAO "B!TCH I'M YAO, MFER!!!: LOOK Yao and Hakeem were very nice guys whose play amounted to some of the best **** talking in the league While I don't know if Capela and Zhou can get that skill level . .. I would love for them to get that attitude Rocket River
Your biggest mistake is putting Capela and Zhou in the same sentence. Despite the injuries, Capela is one the best players this league and not just one of the best bigs.
They play different positions dude Zhou ain’t going to be our point guard or shooting guard First of all He can’t shoot
I remember being excited about Capela in his rookie year when he showed brilliance in staying with perimeter players on defense. I don't think Zhou is "slow" as some of you think. He might not be as athletic and fast as Capela, but I think he has adequate quickness to be effective if only he learns the proper fundamentals on leverage and positioning. On offense, he actually has a higher ceiling than Capela because he can actually shoot.
What does that have to do anything? Both are end of bench, 3rd stringers. I'm saying we need to value those positions more; at least Joe has maybe some upside, Bobby has nothing. SIL
Bobby is at his ceiling. Chee is at his floor. Room for improvement for chichi but they both suck. Need a big sexy body that can ball out.
Need at least 3 fringe rotation players(big, swing,pg), not chinese league players like bobby brown. Tarik is one, Gerald is another, and someone like Barbosa could be a third. SIL
Yao wanted to adapt to the culture here and he was surrounded by the right people. It's obvious Zhou Qi has no real friends off the court with anyone on the team. Just take a look at his first "US thanksgiving", you won't find anyone on the team there which is surprising. Yao always said when he got to Houston, his teammates made sure he came over to their thanksgivings dinner and all the holiday parties to celebrate together and understand American culture and food. Say what you want about Steve Francis but he was a huge positive influence on Yao when he first got here. Francis taught Yao all these things like playing with toughness and getting back at opponents when they try to bully you on the court. I don't think Harden is mentoring Zhou Qi at all, I doubt they even talk much and it shows on the court. Zhou Qi always looks lost out there and even after getting postered by another rook last game, he seemed indifferent about it.
Did you know that Dirk Nowitzki shot .206 from 3 his rookie year? Before you dismiss me for comparing Zhou to Dirk, which I am not doing, let me get my point straight. The percentage of a guy's first 24 NBA field goal attempts (not to mention in garbage time) is not a good measure of how well he can shoot. FT% is considered by a lot of analytics a better indicator.
