Idiots all around. The lady got away with the most and off with the least punishment. The old man got a broken hip. And the young guy got slapped and a pretty bad reputation.
He got a broken hip? Any link? I didn't see it in the newspaper article. As to the fight, I think they are all idiots, but the young guy did show restraint by not retaliating physically at any point (even when the old guy attacked him, all he did was to try and get him off of him). The young guy was drunk. I can see how the lady and her father got annoyed. But they should not have attacked him physically, even though he kept taunting them with F-bombs.
The young guy was slapped by the old woman and sat back down and then was attacked by the old guy. <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/DZXZX4fgjnU?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/DZXZX4fgjnU?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>
Clutchfans: did not see what started the argument (no the slap wasnt it) Crowd : did see and hear what started it all and they wanted the guy thrown out. Perhaps the old man should have shown more restraint, but the guy clearly was doing something to irritate the crowd. He clearly has a case of mouth diarrhea and has no problem using profanity in public, so i think it's fair to say he was talking too much and using profane language. Perhaps buying a ticket allows him to talk, but not to use profanity.
No doubt the guy was a (drunk) prick, but he did show restraint with regard to physical retaliation. But yes, idiots all around. I actually kind of feel sorry for the old man, and I bet the (sobered up) young douchebag probably does, too. The lady should have stopped the old man from going over. She certainly contributed a lot to the escalation.
The man may be an ass, but he didn't initiate the assault. Old woman initiated physical contact, which is assault by law.
There was only one guy that kept repeating to throw the guy out...if you noticed in the latest video, a guy came down and defended the young dude. The old couple was at fault here. The young guy used some F bombs, but he didnt say anything derogatory towards the couple...he didnt call her any names or anything like that. The old dude deserves broken bones. People who initiate contact like that are complete morons.
In the 2nd half of the video, the old guy initiated the choking attack, 2nd attack after the guy sat down. When one party leaves or sits down, and another party returns to choke the 1st party. It will be hard to prove self-defense.
im not even sure the man was going to attack him to begin with...i think that could have been a last minute reaction from him after the guy got up. I think he was just going to go get in his face, since he hadnt been able to do so with the lady between them, then just went off when he saw the getting up. QUOTE=BetterThanEver]The man may be an ass, but he didn't initiate the assault. Old woman initiated physical contact, which is assault by law.[/QUOTE] And if he wants to press charges, then i guess he's got a right to do so, but that doesnt mean he didn't deserve to be thrown out, if really drunk, or at least talked to by an usher. It seem like the only people who defended the young guy were those who couldnt hear him. The guy recording the first video, who was too far to hear, and the one who came down, who i doubt could hear him either. And he actually called her an idiot...may not be alot, but i think that's what made the old man snap. who knows what he said prior to the slap though, that still hasnt been seen. It'll also be difficult for the courts to take this very seriously, although they have to by law. It's one of those things were the guy got what he was asking for....its similar to the Roger Huerta situation, in that he legally had no right to hit the guy, but he deserved it. I can't see this guy pressing charges because of this and any lawyer would probably advise him to let it go.
You must have missed the part that I said about him being an ass. Exactly, the point, she could have walked to an usher and asked him to be escorted. She didn't have the right to take the law into her own hands and attack people. It is a criminal offense.
The second video...you can pretty much hear everything he said, after the slap. Most people would say much worse things after getting slapped like that. Regardless of what he said, the old couple took it to another level. He could have called her anything, there was no reason for her to slap him and for the guy to do what he did. Young guy may be a punk, but the older couple is below him.
it was slap, not repeated swings at his head with a bat......yes it's a criminal offense by definition, and therefore it's "wrong", but it's also something that is commonly done as a reflex and definitely not an "attack". An attack implies she kept at it or it was ongoing, but all she did was slap him and pull back. I think people's views could easily take a 360 if they found out he said something obscene or pretty horrible to her prior to the slap......What would you do if a guy said something horrible to your wife/daughter/mother and her immediate reaction was to slap him? Would you accuse her of attacking the guy?
My point was we're missing what triggered not just the slap, but the argument, and those immediately around him must have witnessed it, and yet didnt defend the guy. If anything, they went after him or yelled at him too. The two people who defended him only saw arguing and then the slap/tackle, which is pretty much our point of view as well. Yes, there were words said after and we can hear that, but the important part is the beginning, which is missing. Those that defended him are also missing that.
blah blah blah blah We do have a thing called "Freedom Of Speech" in America, and it is the US Open so... You can hate the guy or whatever, fact of the matter is he DID pay for tickets, he DID NOT assault anyone... your argument is 100% horse dookie
Doubt it was a last minute reaction. You can clearly see and hear the old man kick the guy when he's sitting down and when he gets up and old guy starts to gauge his eyes. Old guy knew what he was gonna do when he started walking. Also your right we don't know what triggered the reaction. But don't know that the crowd knew what started the situation either. The crowd could've just been paying attention to the match and then see these people arguing and assume the young guys at fault because you have an elderly couple on one hand and young guy dropping f-bombs on another. But that doesn't matter because I didn't know I could hit someone in America because of what they say? Maybe next time if someone annoys me I should take matters into my own hands and like some entitled person tell them what they can or can't say. And if they don't comply well then I guess I should make them. Also according to you if I just hit them once, and don't continue it its not an attack right? But even according to your logic, the old guy did attack the young guy despite the fact the confrontation was pretty much being defused when the guy sat down. No one should be attacked for what they say. If the couple felt he was in the wrong they should have gotten security to resolve the matter, not taken it upon themselves to tell what another person can and can't say like somehow they're entitled to tell it. Also I like how the news organizations are calling this a brawl. I thought a brawl entailed a two-way fight. All I say was one guy being attacked by a old couple and still walk away. Headlines should read young man gets attacked by old vigilante couple.
Where was his buddy in all of this??? If you watch the video he just sat there and when the fight broke out, he moved up a seat which I thought was funny... It was probably the best thing to do in his case, hahahh....
I blame the woman. She put the old man in a tough situation. Most people always say they will defend their woman and will take a beating for their woman just to make a stand. Well that is what the old man did. Everyone could have acted a little more mature in this situation but most of the blame goes to the woman.
