My grandparents moved to Houston from the Lafayette, La area in 1929. The Catholic church i was raised in was built by people fleeing from Louisiana that year. My mother and her brothers always said it was a flood.

7 years ago talking to someone at Flying Saucer downtown, he said he is an environmental scientist. I got on the subject of my family and he said it wasn't a flood, it was a storm surge. The salt water ruins the farm land.
