You think Avril Lavigne is...

Actually, she co-wrote 5 of the 11 songs (not counting the live version of "Beautiful Disaster") off her 2nd album, "Breakaway". And I have to say that album is the best pop album I have ever heard. Clarkson is the real deal.

 

Manny, I trust your opinion on music, how do you explain her last album and the cancellation of her summer tour?

I thought "Breakaway" was her last album and as I said before, it's one of the best pop albums I have ever heard. Don't know much about her cancelling her summer tour although I heard a little about it. I would be pissed if I had gotten tickets ahead of time, but I am willing to cut her a little slack as I would say she has a good reason for cancelling.

 

Make no mistake, her music is GOD AWFUL. But I saw the video for Girlfriend and I must say she's looking very grown up and hot.

Of course, this probably has something to do with her record company telling her to ditch her (totally contrieved) "punk-rocker chick' persona and going with the more $afer big boobed blonde bombshell look that so many other female musicians are going with these days to move a few thousand more units.

But who am I to judge.

I guess what I heard was her singles have been flops on the radio and the tour wasn't selling very well.

Rumor is that the sales of Kelly Clarkson's last CD have been awful and the cause for the tour cancellation. I read it on the internet so it must be true.

 

Avril Lavigne's music is OK but her lyrics do not interest me. I give her credit though shes co-write most of her songs, which by comparison most of the FemPops decidedly (and thankfully) do not.

You are right about the poor sales as I read that too. However, I think there is more to it than that -apparently Clarkson is having major issues with Clive Davis on the direction of her career (she wants it to be more rock-oriented and he doesn't). I wouldn't be surprised if she is cancelling her tour to show Clive that she really is in charge of her career and not him - but that's just a theory on my part.
