The Chinese government takes nothing except ordinary income tax from Yao's endorsements. The 50% rule applies only to his NBA contract.

I do not mind talking about Yao salary issue but Don't you think that we should move it to a Yao's fan site?

Here's how Yao's Salary is divided from several chinese sources:

    1. 50% of income goes to the government
    2. The other 50%, Yao has to share with local team officials etc that are so called "help develop Yao".

    Outrageous, isn't it.

I have told you that but This only is a policy. It is not a law. man can chenge the policy. since the chinese basketball union published this police, many many many people assailed this policy.
also Yao's agent has done a lot of work to deal with this policy.now the proportion that Yao payed to this union is much less than 50%. some one said less than 10%. but none know how much exactly it is. only Yao and his agent know.
