I hear houses still go for less than $100K in Michigan and Wisconsin.

actually if there's ice like that under the snow that's a sign of how NOT insanely cold it is. mid-thirties, freezing rain, switching over to snow. it would be better if it were really insanely cold

    Sunny states for me.

Snow isn't as bad as the weeks worth of clouds blocking the sun.

I lived in Calgary for 4 years and while the winters were cold, as an avid skier it was heaven having a season that long and that close to majestic peaks. But living in North Dakota? No friggin idea

Lived in Philly for 3 years during undergrad. (Hence the moniker). Last year I was there during the entire month of January the temperature never got above 32. People just simply stay inside during the winter. Driving to work is a miserable experience all winter long. Moved back south **** the cold.

I would love to live where it's cold and snows all the time. But that's probably only because I grew up in Houston. If I grew up in North Dakota, I would probably really want to live in the South so I could experience summer. Grass is always greener, I suppose...

my old neighbors (in austin) were from michigan and they just moved to seattle b/c they were tired of the brutal summers. the people who bought their house are from seattle and the first thing they told me was that they were sick of the weather and thats why they moved.

ive lived in texas my whole life and the heat sucks, but i dont know that i could handle extreme winters. id probably take snow over dreary overcast rain like you get in the pacific NW though.

    Grass is always greener.

I'll take the Hill Country 4 months of ridiculous heat and 8 months of nice weather, please. I like to visit snow.

My wife and her entire family eventually moved out of the South Bend, IN area due to the long, cold, dreary (lake effect) winters. Summers are gorgeous there but not worth the tradeoff.

At least we don't have to shovel heat and humidity.

If people didn't live in cold places, the Discovery Channel, TLC, the History Channel and others would lose half of their programming.

I went to Chicago last year in February cause the flights and hotel were cheap

Then I ran into Macy's at the miracle mile to get a real jacket cause it was 4 degrees outside.
