Depending on the offer, would you trade the #1 pick in the draft. Considering what the rockets could put around Jalen from the trade.
I can’t imagine what kind of trade package would even make you consider that. What I want to build around Jaleb is the #1 pick in the draft.
No, not a smart move to trade if we get a top 3 pick. If it's outside of the top 3 it may be wise to do a trade.
If the organization isn’t sold on any of the top three guys over the other and the team at 2 or 3 really wants a specific guy I would swap with 2 or 3 with another FRP attached. So 2022 pick 2 or 3 + 2023 unprotected. the more swings at Victor the better
Well it's a very vague question, but it says "if it was hard to pass", so... YES. You always do a trade IF you perceive that you're getting back more value than you're subtracting.
Only if our trading partner owns the number two pick and will offer that in addition to some first round picks and/or young players with talent I'm okay with drafting second and still picking up one of either Jabari or Chet
If I had intel on who the other top 3 teams wanted, I’d trade down to 3rd. Similar to Boston in 2017.
Ja, Tatum, Luka, LaMelo, Trae…. Sure. Maybe some I missed - Giannis, Jokic lol type obviously yes. otherwise only to move down ala Boston if that makes sense.
Yeah to make this deal you need: 1) intel on who the top 3-4 teams are targeting 2) a trade partner in the top 3-4 3). Confidence in the top 4 as being more or less the same value or confidence that your guy will be there at 3 or 4 4). You’d need to get an early lotto pick in a future draft or a bonafide star to make it worth it. so those are a lot of boxes to check making a trade highly unlikely. Most likely the Rockets have a distinctly higher grade on some of the top 4 over others. But I’ll be happy if we are picking in the top 3-4 and nab any one of those bigs.
Exactly. For example, if the team at #2 is dead set on someone we don't want at #1...why on earth would we not take assets to move back one spot? We even get to pay our guy a little less. In that case it's a no brainer.
Ja Giannis Tatum Luka Are the only players I would do that for. I'm not as high as Lamelo as some. Dealing the 2023 lotto pick for a vet star is the more optimal scenario if we want to go that trade route. Chet or Jabari are great prospects. Praying for #1.
Yeah. You trade for any of those guys that are young enough to be on our timeline but already 100% proven. But if they don't meet that standard then hell naw.
