Another dumb criminal. http://news.msn.com/offbeat/police-woman-called-in-bomb-threats-to-graduation-1 Police: Woman called in bomb threats to graduation HAMDEN, Conn. (AP) — A 22-year-old woman called in bomb threats to a Quinnipiac University's commencement in Connecticut in a bid keep her family from learning that she wasn't graduating despite taking money for her education from her mother, according to police. Danielle Shea of Quincy, Massachusetts, was wearing a cap and gown she'd purchased when she was arrested Sunday, Hamden police said. Police said she gave a detailed confession. Shea was scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Meriden Superior Court. Shea is being held on $20,000 bond. It was unclear whether she has an attorney. Messages were left at her mother's home. Police said Shea didn't attend the university this year, but her mother paid thousands of dollars she thought was for her daughter's education. When graduation arrived, Shea panicked when relatives didn't see her name on the graduation roster and tried to have the ceremony canceled, they said. According to police, Shea made two calls to the university's public safety department. In the first, about 20 minutes before the start of the 6 p.m. graduation ceremony, she stated there was a "bomb in the library," said police. In the second call, about 20 minutes later, police said Shea warned that "several bombs are on campus" and noted, "You haven't cleared out graduation. That's not a good idea." Hamden and university police identified Shea using the telephone number she'd called from and then found her at the arena. Shea was arrested at the indoor campus athletic arena, the TD Bank Sports Center, where the commencement for the university's College of Arts and Sciences was moved because of the threats. She is charged with first degree threatening and falsely reporting an incident.
She could have used a pay as you go phone like drug dealers do and thrown away the phone as soon as she called. That's what I would have done.
Well technically, its something you do if you are due to graduate in spring/fall and find out last minute you bomb a final and have to retake it next semester. It also applies if you are one semester's credits away from graduating. It doesn't even matter, she took money and decided not to go to college she deserved every bit of that.
Wondering whats more embarrassing: her family members not seeing her name on the graduation ceremony booklets, or seeing her name/story/pics plastered nationally...Poor mom...
Also if you're in a joint degree program where you receive your bachelors and masters together after your 5th year. A lot of people still like to walk with the rest of their class.
its for the people who are like 3 units away from graduating. don't know why honestly but it is hard to get into some upper division classes so they just end up finishing it in the following fall quarter
Hmm.....What exactly was she expecting? She knew she wasn't part of the graduating class, and yet she still bought her cap and gown, and invited relatives to the ceremony? It's reports like these that make me realize Albert Einstein was right! The graduation was moved to a different venue because of this selfish/stupid act! Apart from paying a hefty fine (I don't think this deserves jail), they should make her apologize personally to every single person who was affected by this, and exile her to North Korea! ....... ....... .......
As I was reading this story, I pictured what she would look like in my mind. And this is exactly the image that I imagined.
