WTF - this is like DaDakota week. I wanted Amir Johnson years ago, Rox now meeting with him, wanted James Johnson when he was with the vipers, Rox meeting with him. Glad they finally caught up. DD
This would be awesome! Add as many heady guys who can handle the ball, pass, and run as possible. It might sound crazy, but I wouldn't even mind if we gave him the full MLE. Player versatility AND lineup versatility.
Apparently he's willing to wait and see if the Heat sign Hayward : http://heatnation.com/media/james-j...t-free-agency-until-heat-sign-gordon-hayward/
I thinks he's fools bait. Out of his 9 years in the league, 8 are trash. He just had his first and only good season at 30 years old, and is now looking to get paid. No thanks, the probability of him turning back into trash next season is way too high for me to even feel comfortable with us spending our MLE on him. A lot of players out there that have proven they can consistently be productive players over their careers.
I think you're being harsh. He's shown flashes of excellence before. This doesn't really matter though because reports are that he's going back to MIA and will get $13M+/yr.
He's been miscast as a banger his whole career until Miami realized he has point-forward skills. He totally transformed his body this past year. It's not like he had a good year because he got streaky and shot better than ever before. He had a good year because his skillset was finally utilized properly. I get it though. We are hoping for multiple ring-chaser types with that MLE money, so I won't be butt-hurt if we don't snag him!
I am but I'm not. I agree, he's shown flashed of brilliance but has consistently been sucky at the end of the day until this last season. Before this last season, out of his 8 years he only Had one 70 game season Had one season where he averaged over 8 points (9.1 ppg) Had one season where he shot over 32% - (32.6% on 0.2 makes per game) Has had one season with a AST/TO ratio of 1.5 to 1 One season with a rebounding % of 11 (Anderson's career average is 11.8% for comp) Those are all his career highs before this season... and they aren't impressive. His career averages are much worse. There's a chance that something clicked and that he'll continue to play at the level of last season, but I think theirs a much larger chance he returns to his averages (which is a vet min player). I'm just saying I'd rather take a safer bet with our MLE.
