Get him on the mound and he's trouble F**ked around and got 10ks didn't even inflate his 1.09 ERa His dominance in statshttps://www.sbnation.com/mlb/2017/10/13/16474182/dallas-keuchel-vs-yankees-dominant-stats
Lance is confident and seems a big game pitcher, but today, I'd just take 3 IP / 1 R -- ditto Peacock. If the offense can't muster 3 runs against struggling Gray, damn it to hell.
I think preemptively benching LMJ after 3 innings is a good idea, but I don't think they will/can do it if he's pitching well. Unfortunately, with all these 3-4 inning type starters, you kind of have to leave them in there until they get in trouble, but at that point, they may have done too much damage as they all seem to unravel really quickly. I'd prefer they start Peacock and then bring in LMJ for 3 relief innings. I feel it's more likely you get 4-5 good innings out of Peacock than LMJ, but that ship has sailed at this point.
Hinch is leaving his options open on Peacock. He is not going to put Peacock in a game that Astros are down by 4-5 runs. LMJ gets blown out like Astros did yesterday, LMJ goes 6 and Liriano finishes. LMJ has a good 3-4 innings, Peacock comes in for 3 as soon as LMJ allows a baserunner after the third (Devo may be used to pitch a part of an inning between LMJ and Peacock if Peacock isn't warm). Giles and Musgrove for the kill. Astros blow out Yankees, LMJ for 8, Liriano finishes.
I heard a sound clip on the radio, didn't see it live, but it sounded like LMJ went to Hinch and said he wanted the ball in game 7. Didn't care if he started for only 3 innings, or came in relief, he demanded to be in that game. I think that shows confidence, guts, and just some big ol balls. I think he's just gettin started.
It was funny he was about to say "I want the f-ing ball" then he remember he was on national TV and changed it up. Found the video http://m.mlb.com/news/article/259288044/mccullers-locks-down-game-7-win-for-astros/ Its the second video on the page.
