The allstar selection is based on popularity. Lin has a billion and half of fans and they want to see a hardlin backcourt.

Why would it be embarrassing for the franchise though? The ASG are a popularity contest so if he has enough fans to get a fan vote who cares if his numbers aren't as good as CP3 or Russ. It has nothing to do with merit in terms of being a starter at the games. Wouldn't you be happy to have both players at the games as opposed to just one. I've been a Raptor fan for years now & it has been a while since we had a player at the ASG. LOL. Makes no sense to me why it would be an embarrassment to the franchise if Lin was popular enough to get a spot as a stater in a game based on popularity but to each his own.

Well I am not saying that only Chinese fans will vote for him. I actually disagree with that assertion (see Yi Jian Li) It isn't like his fan base is located only in Asia, & Asia alone. He has a lot of other fans outside of Asia in a lot of random countries where the NBA isn't even popular. I just think he is overwhelmingly popular & people will vote for him China or not.

What's all the crap about china only voting players that perform well? The last year T-Mac was on our team (you know, when he played 8 minutes a game and then tried to force a trade to the Knicks) he was in the lead for the 2 guard spot in all-star game votes for a good part of the season. Who's fault you think that was?:rolleyes::rolleyes:

I actually think Harden has a better shot at making All-NBA 3rd team than the all-star team.

i doubt the whole asia will root for him , some might even against him because of his race, for example, because of the island issue between japan and china/taiwan , there's probably some japanese don't like him.

i actually think that most that root for him it's not because of his race but his underdog story.

    As far as guards go:

    Kobe - In
    Westbrook - Probable
    Paul - In
    Nash - Probable

5 spots go to guards. Rubio, Harden, Gordon, Curry, Parker, & Ginobili are your most likely candidates of the rest.

    Agreed

but Lin has a BIG number of fans in

Thailand (70 mill) , Phillipines (110 mill) , Indonesia (400 mill people) , India (1,5 billion people live there) , Japan (120 mill) and Bangladesh etc.

Maybe the fans outside China in Asia are in bigger numbers.
