CAP SPACE. Sengun is the clear building block. Im not sure how anyone thinks green is warranted this. Win win for everyone. Green may be successful but he doesn’t fit the financial timeline

You might not extend him and give him his respectful good bye.....

It’s time for him to go, the kid is an athlete that doesn’t really know how to play basketball. It’s sad that he’s a bust but maybe another team doesn’t notice how bad he is. It’s time to move on. We also need to do something with the dead weight on this team, Oladipo, Boban, Landale, and Tate taking up roster spots for no reason.

I'd rather swing for the fences and keep him with the hope that by some miracle, he ends up being a good player. I'd rather that than get some journeyman plus some crappy 2nd rounders in return.

What is the right thing to do? What's your opinion? What should this team do?

He’s looking less and less like a future star to me as the season goes by. Made some good passes and shots tonight, to be fair, but with the game on the line I don’t trust him with the ball.

Same but I would not say he is going to be a fantastic player, he is a decent player who does not know his role because he has none......

He has to know what his role is first, trying to semi facilitate one game, trying to shoot the next game, trying to slash to the hoop the 3rd game.....

He is all over the place but rarely something comes out of it.....not a game changer.

Trade him for what exactly? Lots of folks say he sucks but want to trade him? I just don’t understand.

And what do you mean by he doesn’t fit our financial timeline? If he’s not good, he’s not gonna get a big contract anyway. Worst case we just don’t extend him, make him a RFA next year and let him test the market. What’s the big rush?

Trading Green now would be foolish.

He gets the rest of the season at least, because the cost/benefit favors waiting and see if he breaks through.

Not all the development is linear, and the Rockets don’t have to extend him this summer.

I agree there's no reason to trade him, he has no value, but I do think they should at least consider benching him even if only temporarily to see if it wakes him up. Too often he's a detriment to the team.

It seems unfair to everyone else for him to hang on to his role and his minutes simply based on where he was drafted years ago.

I actually thought Jalen played a decent overall game tonight. He didn't lose this game. We win if we attempt to guard Coby White. No one could check him. But I know that no one wants to hear that tonight lol.

His NBA comparison was Bradley Beal.

Beal didn't really start getting it together until he was 23 years old.

Jalen is only 21. His scoring numbers have regressed since last year but he's been finding other ways to contribute when his shot isn't falling.

I still think he has 1 or 2 more years before you can really make a definite decision if you want to move on from him.

He doesn't really have much value right now anyways. I'd rather hold stock that he eventually turns into an all-star guard than jump ship prematurely and end up with a pocket full of lint.

There are like 2 chats totally dedicated to this. What is the point of this brand new thread. How is it different?

I wanted him replaced by Cam and few more minutes for Amen but by looking at it, Dillon and Tari will be out for a while so I rather see Cam replacing Tate and let him play with Jalen. We all thought Jalen was gonna be a offensive beast like Harden but clearly he is not and he’ll do much better with more space created by Cam rather than Tate who is hurting everyone in the starting line up

It's a team loss. Game was tied in regulation which means plenty of things other players did could have resulted in a win. Senguin for example could have shot better than 3 for 8 from the line, the coach could have played Tate less etc etc

Dude, amen thompson doesn't have a shot yet. His shooting style is very bad. Right now he reminds me of Rondo who can't shoot. Yes, he has great court vision, but it's not enough.

I think it would be a premature idea to get rid of a young player who seems to be learning well.

Ime will bench him when he sucks. Jalen will learn how to play in a system and for a hardass coach.

There's really nothing to lose by keeping him--and if he plays badly his impact on cap space won't even be that much because he certainly won't command a max contract.

There's nobody we could trade for that will be a better long term fit for the team than Jalen Green. That's the truth of it. Either older vets that don't fit our timeline, draft picks which we don't need, or younger guys that have even more question marks than Jalen in terms of development.

I am in favor of letting him grow and letting our coaching staff do their work.

There are subtle things that he is doing a whole lot better, and I am very happy with the way he is being coached. He is getting closer to putting some of his considerable talent together.

He needs to live in the weight room. Patience.
