    The obvious 3:
Jose Altuve - .278/.364/.528 with 16HR, leads all AL 2B in WAR
Yordan Alvarez - .313/.413/.633 with 25HR, Leads the AL in pretty much all important hitting stats.
Justin Verlander - Leads AL in wins, 2nd in ERA

The deserves it hands down, but probably gets penalized by being a rookie:

Jeremy Pena - .276/.327/.482 12 HR, leads AL SS in bWAR, 2nd in fWAR, by sizeable margin despite losing 2 weeks worth of games to injury.

The probably deserves it, but are more likely as replacements because how many all-stars can one team have when every team needs a rep:

Cristian Javier - 2.58ERA with 12.3k/9. Penalized for starting season in the pen, so only 69.2 IP. Led a no-hitter against the Yankees in Yankee stadium
Framber Valdez - 2.67ERA, threw the first 13 Ks of a 20K game.
Kyle Tucker - .259/.350/.487, 5th in AL OPS, fWAR among OF

The its really hard to make it as non-closing reliever:
Ryne Stanek - 0.67 ERA (3rd among AL Relievers)
    Rafael Montero - 1.93 ERA
Seth Martinez - 0.83 ERA, 0.785 WHIP (just below qualifying IP)

I'd be happy if no one went to LA. Not even Baker. Cry about having to follow Covid Prevention protocol for meaningless games.

I definitely don't care if they play. Just like the recognition.

Skip the Home run Derby. Let Judge be the one who burns out for a publicity stunt.

Absolute horsesh!t Ohtani made it over yordan at DH. Anyone with a brain can see yordan is the superior DH.

All star games are just a popularity contest anyway.

"X made the all star game x times" doesn't mean that much to me when comparing players at the end of their careers.

Their production on the field is what matters.

Othani deserves an all-star slot, as a pitcher.

Getting two all star slots is a joke.

It’s interesting that Altuve won the popularity contest at 2nd base. Obviously he deserves it, but he’s still routinely booed everywhere. I think Yankee fan actually likes him though.

There's a better chance that Verlander plays in the homerun derby than Judge in a contract year. I think Yordon would have been a lock to participate if he hadn't signed his extension that included a signing bonus. With the derby he would have had a chance to make more in one night (million dollar prize) than he made all year with the Astros.

Having Yordan not be a starter is dumb but the whole thing is pretty dumb and we’re Houston so of course we are provided no favor. What is it besides marketing, really?

I think there is some truth there. I'm sure Yankee fan can respect that after all the crap he takes/hears he's still goes out there and plays his ass off and tears their f*cking hearts out and eats it.

I'm sure one Yankee fan has that respect, but I believe the majority of Yankee fans are just aholes. So I hope Altuve continues to beat their asses.

It's a game for the fans. The fans picked Ohtani. Yordan will still be on the team. What's the problem?
