What it will be vs what it should be are two different things. Everybody here will likely underestimate the heart of the champion. Foles should be the answer. Wentz will be the answer and that's the mistake. The Eagles unlocked a beast. Don't mess with something that worked. I underline worked. Not working. Worked. The system they developed for Foles was unstoppable. It would be like if the Patriots turned back to Bledsoe.
Foles played out of his mind. No garuntee wentz plays as well. At the same time if anyone gives up high pick for foles they are dumb.
I wonder how this will affect Wentz going forward. The fans think he is better than Foles, so won't they expect another Championship from Wentz soon? I think now there is more pressure on Wentz were there was none before.
Carson Wentz was going to be MVP this year and hes still on a rookie deal. Thats the perfect scenario for a franchise.
Isn’t it crazy how long we looked for a serviceable starting quarterback and now that we have one they seem to be all over the place and available?
Would downvote this post if I could. You are entitled to your opinion and so is everyone else. FWIW I voted for Wentz but it was tough. Foles just stormed through the playoffs, capping it off with a flawless performance against the Belichick/Brady Patriots in the Superbowl. The same brady who took the job of then franchise QB Drew Bledsoe when he was injured and led them to a Superbowl title (the irony is thick). It worked out pretty well for the Pats I would say. So yeah, you could deal out Foles who already proved he can win it all vs the best of all time -- or you can deal out Wentz who has supreme trade value, powerfully bolstering a Superbowl champion lineup at the positions of their choosing. Side note, I am in awe if the coaching job by Doug Pederson last night. Truly masterful.
Some here are acting as if this was Nick Foles’ first season ever. There’s more than enough of a sample size on him to know who he is. We all know that systems/timing are everything in the NFL. We also know that Wentz was having an MVP-type season prior to the injury, so its not as if he or the team was struggling. This is not at all like the Brady/Bledsoe situation. Bledsoe was past his prime, and Brady was just beginning his career.
The Eagles certainly have it going good right now. They pay less for both Foles and Wentz than most teams are paying for just one QB.
