Here is a list of players whose contracts are up at the end of this season: Matt Bullard Sean Colson Dan Langhi Moochie Norris Hakeem Olajuwon Maurice Taylor Who do you want the Rockets to re-sign and who do you want to let go? I say they're all keepers. ------------------ The word for the day is "legs"...let's all spread the word.
Keepers: Bullard Norris Olajuwon Let 'em go: Colson Langhi Taylor ------------------ Dream Rejects Every Attempt Made
You forgot Shandon anderson <-- may leave no more than mobely money [I'm converted] Rocket River ------------------
Keepers- Francis, Moochie Cat, Shandon Langhi Mo T, KT Collier Add Marc Jackson, Raef Lafrentz, and a couple of rookies (I like R. White or Jefferson with the first pick, and I think T. Morris will be there for the second pick), and I will be happy. ------------------
Please Exit Bullard Taylor Anderson Collier Langhi Thomas Please Enter Marc Jackson C-Webb Richard Jefferson Ken Johnson Forte (Would be a great backup for Cuttino Mobley) ------------------ President of the Steve Francis, Jamal Crawford,Larry Hughes, and Charles Woodson fan club.
Lil Francis, you have been a member for a long time. What you are proposing is not possible due to salary cap restrictions. You can post better than this, imho. ------------------ Bob Rainey is my hero!
Keep them all. Only lose Mo if Webber signs. ------------------ Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon is the greatest player in the history of basketball. If you disagree, you are not a Rocket fan.
Turn the question around. Which of these guys are likely to stay? [This message has been edited by edc (edited April 03, 2001).]
I think Moochie is the only guy on this list who will definately be on the team next year. I think Taylor and Olajuwon could both stay even if Webber signs. Bullard is 50/50. Langhi will only stay if we don't draft a 3, or if we get rid of the Wiz. Colson is unnecessary. I think Anderson will chose not to come back, but I'm not sure what team is interested in a shooting guard who can't shoot. ------------------ Some days you just can't get rid of a bomb!
I think you guys are underestimating the value of a Matt Bullard. He may be extremely valuable if: A. We get a strong post presence such as a Webber or someone throught the draft. B. The NBA does away with illegal defenses. Not to mention, he seems like a postive veteran that is good to have in the lockerroom. ------------------
i think we should hold onto our main guys, mooch, dream, motay, etc try to resign shandon. keep the unit together and let them gel a little. they're still very YOUNG. it takes some time. the only changes i wanna see are letting walt and cato go in a trade. bullard and walt are pretty much the same player... bullard is a little more consistent. i hope our pick ends up in the top 3, then we can package that pick with walt and cato and try to get shareef. then use some of our caproom to get marc jackson. we can let shandon go if we get shareef. but still itd be PERFECT if he stayed on, and came off the bench. defensive specialist. i honestly dont see us getting webber, and im not sure its worth the price of dream mooch shandon and mo taylor. ------------------ president of the sleepy floyd to hall of fame club. http://www.it-is-truth.org
Well I see it like this: KEEP: #1 PRIORITY-ANDERSON 2)Norris 3)Maurice Taylor (fits our team) Need to draft: 1) defensive SF like Terrence Morris or Isiah Victor of Tennessee. 2)another center if dream leaves(Alvin Jones, Loren Woods or Ruben Boumtje-Boumtje. 3) backup guard Kenny Gregory big guard like Shandon. Sign FA: 1)Chris Webber(VERY DOUBTFUL) 2) if we don't get Webber, Marc Jackson (we need a rebounder in a bad way). Like to note that Marc Jackson reminds me of a coach Houston Rockets have well he's an assistant Larry Smith. ------------------
Richard Jefferson would fill in nicely at the 3. We need a PF or C that can rebound, the Rockets currently don't have that. They need to use their draft picks much more wisely this year. ------------------
If we got a top 3 pick, there's NO way the Rockets would trade that pick plus walt and cato for SAR. I don't even think they would trade the top 3 pick alone for SAR. Especially since this draft has a TON of potential. ------------------ Peter: Lawrence what would you do if you had a million dollars? Lawrence: I'd tell you what I'd do man...2 chicks at the same time man. Peter: That's it? If you had a million dollars you'd do 2 chicks at the same time? Lawrence: Damn straight, I always wanted to do that man.
maybe this is because im not very familiar with this years draft class, but how much impact will a new rookie make? woudlnt it make more sense to use that pick to get SAR. he's a proven player, and would DEFINITELY put us over the hump and into the playoffs. i dont know if we can trade just the pick for him... but im sure cato/walt would work it out salary cap wise. i dont think its too much to give up, cato = worthless. we're better off signing some 7 footer out of the cba who actually tries. if we do get shareef, we've got no need for walt, especially if we can hold onto shandon. after that, a number 3 pick is definitely worth shareef. shareef is still young, but he's got some experience, and that would fit in better than bringing in a rookie. just my 2 cents anyway ------------------ president of the sleepy floyd to hall of fame club. http://www.it-is-truth.org
just got this thought from the mavs thread, but if we cant get sar, what about van horn? how would he fit into our system? is he a sf or a pf (for the life of me i cant remember) if he's pf.. well we got mo. but if he can play sf, then we should definitely make a run at him. would you rather go after van horn, or sar. i think working a trade for van horn would be MUCH easier than working a trade for sar. and if our pick is like 13th (as it shuold be) i wouldnt mind trading it and say walt for van horn. hell throw in cato just to unload him. ------------------ president of the sleepy floyd to hall of fame club. http://www.it-is-truth.org
Jamma -- I loved Van Horn coming out of college, but seeing him a lot now, I have to say that unless the rest of the starters are real tough defensively (not the Rockets strong suit just yet), he hurts you. And he does not shoot consistently well enough to make up for it. Not a championship player at this point. Abdur-Rahim looks much better to me, but I've seen a lot less of him. Anyone have an idea about his fit as a Rocket? Availability? ------------------ "Considering Mobley for His First Son's Name"
Please, no Keith Van Horn talk. He makes 9 million a year, and he is only worth 3-5 in my opinion. I would rather try to pry A. Williams away from the Nets. That dude is a VERY underrated player. ------------------
Ha, no. Unless Issel is still the GM this off-season (highly unlikely), LaFrentz won't be traded, let alone to a division rival. Besides, looking over your list of players still on the team, it's apparent you'd trade Sean Colson for him. Not happening. ------------------ Nuggets4 The Pinnacle -- Proof that Rivals.com isn't COMPLETELY evil. NugsPinnacle.com
I would love to get SAR, but it's too hard to pass up a top 3 pick for him. I don't want to give up too much for SAR b/c we don't JUST need a SF. We need a center too. Olajuwon's only going to be around for a couple years if we resign him. When he leaves, we're left with nobody, unless we sign or trade for a guy, or we draft a C. If we had a top 3 pick, I'd take Eddy Curry out of HS. This dude looks like a monster, maybe the next Shaq. There's alot of big men in this draft, and thats what we REALLY need. Small forwards are a dime a dozen, big centers are rare. There's only a few dominant centers out there, and if we got a top 3 pick, we'd definitely try to draft one. The odds of us getting a top 3 pick are pretty close to impossible so it doesn't really matter anyway. It's nice to think about though.
