I was reading this about Jrue and thought, "what a really solid guy". Any more good guys like this in the NBA?
Brogdon is a great guy. Created a charity- while in his rookie contract at that- and got other NBA players to join to build wells in africa. Lebron has given a ton to his community building schools. John Wall is really loved in DC for the amount of charities. I remembered how he cried after a game after the loss of a little girl that he had bonded with through his charity. I am sure there are tons of other guys too. I know Giannis has done a ton of charity work over here giving scholarship and rebuilding an orphanage that was burned down in a wildfire.
Former Rockets contributed to some good causes: Terrance Jones helped the homeless by showing some tough love Harden helping strippers in needs and fat women to regain self steams and make some $$ Steve Frances led by an example and helped kids to stay away from drugs Les alexander built a shelter to rescue horses and nba championship trophies
I suppose it depends on how you define it. Charitable? Friendly? Treats people well? For example a lot of the most charitable NBA players are also known to be jerks at times. For example LeBron James, James Harden, Chris Paul and Kevin Love are all known to be charitable but all are also known to be moody and at time jerks. If I had to pick one current or really recent player that is a great guy I would go with Pau Gasol and probably the nicest and compassionate basketball player I have met or have heard about would be a tie between Yao Ming and Dirk Nowitzki. Truth be told most of the guys in the NBA are decent to good guys. There are some like Derrick Rose than are scum but most are good people. The friendliest and easiest to talk to players I have personally experienced have been Vernon Maxwell, Charles Barkley, Dirk Nowitzki and Doc Rivers.
Yeah, I've always been iffy about LeBron. There's true charity work and then there's charity work to make yourself look good. Not saying LeBron is for sure one or the other. I just don't get good vibes from the guy, especially after the Morey/ China fiasco.
Harden is one of the good ones. Donates to charities Frequent Strip clubs to help people of the night makes a living Fills the pockets of a struggling billionaire Before this incidence, he doesn't really stir sht up in my opinion and just plays the game. But i could be wearing my homer goggles. His image is taking a hit with the way he's ignoring the covid pandemic.
Lebron has had "Chosen 1" tatted on his back since HS. He's always danced behind the mirror. His efforts to contribute as a humanitarian have always felt flat to me. He only does what serves him to build his brand.
How can you hate on a guy that built a school with free tuition as long as they're there? The Lebron hate on the court is understandable... But off the court, LeBron deserves nothing but admiration..
Pay it forward, folks. Judging others before oneself is always less difficult. We can do better and be less moody as well. #Altruism
i hear jerry lin is quite the standup guy off court. there have been tales of him going around curing leprosy, paralysis, and even raised the raptors from the dead to win a championship.
That’s pretty impressive to have that kind of initiative. It’s one thing to be a nice guy, but having the drive to identify and act on a cause that will impact the people who are suffering the most in the world has to be the highest of virtues.
Dikembe Mutombo Mpolondo Mukamba Jean-Jacques Wamutombo Les’ work with dog/animal shelters in Houston is fantastic, with wide-ranging effects. I currently foster dogs in Boulder that are being transported from Houston, as part of the effort to place Houston dogs in other cities. He even gave $1.5m this year. He hasn’t stopped helping Houston shelters.
