Select the ones that you think should be accepted and supported socially. If you don't select all, explain why you would select one/some and not others.
@Os Trigonum I remember Jeremy Lin fans religiously believe that Jeremy Lin was better than James Harden. Reality didn't meet their insanity Like I said, if you think you are Superman, then fly.. @Rocket River
Depends on what "accept and support" means. I accept and support everyone's right to live the way they please. I don't accept and support people trying to force everyone else to pretend that their own subjective dysphoria reflects objective reality.
It means give it a rest and let it go and talk about it if and when you can. Nobody would have ever cared, and this would have never been an issue, until people like you made it so. Yall complain about "people are putting it in out children's faces"...but you're the people actually involved in it.
I created this separate thread because I don't understand how people accept and support transgender, but not transracial, transspecies, transage, or transabled.
I agree that it depends on what you mean by "support"? It also to this post what do you mean by "force"? Transgendered people exist so that is objective reality that there are people who identify with a gender other than their birth.
I don't remember if you or another person brought up someone that identifies as a cat. In this situation if someone wants to identify as a cat that doesn't really affect me and sure I can accept them wanting to be a cat. If in terms of support that means that I have to clean out their litter box or feed them, no I don't have to do that anymore than I'm obligated to take care of a stray cat or any human that I have no direct connection to either.
It's one thing to "accept" that the person believes he/she is a cat, it's another to be forced to call the person a cat, and to possibly be sanctioned for not calling the person a cat ("miscatting" the person).
Don't know. When and if I do I will let you know. That said I don't have to "meow" at any cat that I see.
I'm also going to point out that these are the type of slippery slope arguements that were used against Same Sex Marriage. There were saying things like "What if someone wants to marry their dog or their shoe." This just shows that this opposition to trans is a continuation of the overall culture war.
I don't feel too strongly about 99.9% of trans-related discussions I see because none of these scenarios have ever come up in my life and I don't know if they ever will. That said, I do think the topic isn't so black and white. Lots of grey areas. I know I don't have the answers. As @rocketsjudoka pointed out, we don't meow to cats. I think better questions are: Should the trans-cat receive species-affirming care at a vet? Or Should the trans-cat be able to stay at a pet boarding facility with your cat?
So - trying to understand the perspective of others is "opposition"? Asking why you choose one thing and not the other is opposition? We all (including me) draw the line somewhere. I want to understand the viewpoints of others (whether I agree or disagree) when I make decisions on where I draw the line.
