Uprising, if you feel geeky for doing pbp in chat...imagine how I feel....noit only do I normally spend the time to do score and time updates during Rockets games....but then I spend 3 hours afterwards editing and encoding the games for a bunch of guys I have never met.

    ;)

I also am a huge Discovery Channel geek...
I enjoy cheesy movies with names like Kentucky Fried Movie
I love to read Harry POtter books and other scifi/fantasy books
and I know all about the Star Trek and Star Wars universes..
and last but not least.....I spend at least 80% of my internet time reading this site...:D

My roomate plays this game, and oh does he play it. He's had it for around a month now and he's logged 8 FULL days and 10-odd something hours. That's a lot of sitting in front of the computer screen. Also, everyone who he knows that plays the game plays it non-stop, also. Sorry to you WoW fans out there, but it looks like the nerdiest/gayest game ever made. I'm sorry.

I'm surprised people here still remember that; I thought it was long forgotten. I saved it as a Word document and read it again from time-to-time; it was that classic. It'd be a good thread to bring way back from the dead, so all the people who have no idea what that reference is can understand it's hilarity.

Anyways as for me.... I USED TO, USED TO play an unhealthy amount of Starcraft and Diablo 2. That was a looong time ago, however. Blizzard (company who made those 2 games and World of Warcraft) doesn't make a lot of games, but when they do, they are huge sellers that are highly addictive games.

The only thing I do now which I'd consider nerdy is check this site... A LOT. I also spend long amounts of time going through my massive iTunes library organizing music; that takes an extremely long time because.... well, I might have happened to stumble on a lot of pirated music that has the wrong information - I didn't download it, though...

My wife and I watch "The Critical Hour" on Discovery Health.

I carefully monitor my plants in the green house- I am dying to take them out, but fear a freeze or cold weather...

I'm not a civil engineer, but enjoy problem solving on estimates.

I am 48 and used to be the youngest one on the job. I was the "kid". I was treated very well and enjoyed the role as the apprentice.

The older engineers taught me to use a slide rule- extremely cool!!

Now I am the "old man". The youngsters and I work very hard, but have a good time with puns and problem solving. I am directing the "kids " to polish their resumes, learn new skills, and take tech writing. I like to collect old construction drawings from 1940 and older - fascinating details... The young people really are fascinated with the older symbols, abbreviations on old layout, piling, structurals steel, and concrete drawings.

They teach me more than I teach them....

I weigh my dog's food to keep them healthy....

I take my golden retriever ( now retired) to wetland - coastal areas for exercise- I bring the small (.410 ga)shotgun and never fire it. I take pictures of her..

    I am a super geek.....

Still read and collect comic books. I also still have all of my old star wars action figures as well as many binders of comic, baseball, basketball, and football cards. I have the old 8-bit nintendo NES system and a few role playing games. They still work. Probably the geekiest thing I do is spend way too much time at the UNM library studying.

I don't do a lot of the standard geek things, though my college group of friends was pretty bad about it. Roleplaying games and hours upon hours of movies don't interest me; not interactive enough. I've been exposed to a lot of Star Trek and Dr. Who against my will. I would always bring something to study in case they decided to watch those.

Which sounds geeky in itself, but it's not because I loved to study; more because I knew I needed to make myself. I teach chemistry, which also sounds bad, but I'm not really that into science deep down. Which is good in terms of me teaching classes to non-science majors; they like me because I relate to them. Not good in terms of my long-term career as a "scientist", though.

The only science I do for fun is nature & bird watching. OK, here's the geeky part. I have seen 300 species of birds. It's fun if you do it once in a while, and you get to be outdoors. I wouldn't want to do it all the time though.

And I'm into different weird stuff than everybody else. Like watching figure skating.

Oh, and I'm probably a lifetime band geek; I enjoy playing in marching bands (and their relatives) and playing classical music.

I can solve a Rubix cube. (How's that for geekiness?)

I can also recite the introduction to the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Just get it over with and stamp 'nerd' on my forehead.
