Pardons? Massive firings? More executive orders? Or is he just moving back to Florida full-time to sulk and tweet?
I think if the worst that happens is the trumps trash and loot the entire White House, then we will have gotten out of this easy.
He'll just want to create chaos...it wouldn't surprise me if he pardoned every federal prisoner in the United States then claims crime is up under Biden...anything is possible.
You know, that would be evil genious. Like John Adams' midnight judges, it'll be Trump's midnight pardons....of everyone!
If he had any sense, he'd try to bridge the divide (that he caused) between the left and the right. Should do this because he has nothing to gain from not doing it (as the election is over) and everything to gain from doing it (helping shine a good light on Republicans). But history has suggested he has no sense, so...
All the way up to January, he will not believe he will lose the Presidency. Along the way he will fire all the people he feels have not stood by him. He will support calls for violence and attack democracy and those Republicans that did not stand by him.
This thread is so naive. He’s going to line up refinancing while he still has bargaining power with lenders pre-1/20/21. If he’s got any spare energy, he’ll think about how to position himself or one of his kids for 2024.
Well he is out golfing today...so i assume he will do that 6 or 7 more times. Probably also fire off some 3am tweets, pardon some people and call it a day.
This could be a very dangerous time. We’ve never had a Lame duck President who is so determined to not leave graciously. From his statements this past week shows a dignified transition isn’t going to be likely. Besides the court challenges there is still the specter of Republican state legislatures appointing their own electors or electors not voting with their state popular votes. I think that’s unlikely but wouldn’t rule things out this year. There is also the possibility of Trump calling his supporters out to and take action. He’s already encouraged them protesting but he could ramp up his rhetoric even more. Given that armed people have been arrested already trying to break into vote counting centers more could happen. As President if he really feels bitter he could using executive power take retribution on states and people he thinks cost him the election. Barr has already shown he will support vindictive actions by the President and this could get worse. He could also hamper the incoming administration by firing staff in critical positions and cutting budgets and resources. Even if Trump accepts the but does nothing to help with the transition that could make it very difficult for the new Administration to come in ready to deal with all of the challenges this country faces. Trump just checking out ignores that we are in a major crisis with many ongoing challenges both here and around the World. We will still need a President for the next two months.
