Probably wouldn’t get so much hate if not for the Oprah freakout and Scientology. Dude makes good movies. I just think some people are burned out on him a bit.
People seemed to make fun of him as early as in the 90's, but I don't get it, he almost always delivers. On screen charisma.
He kicked a lot of ass in Taps. I think that was the 1st time we saw him, before All the Right Moves...
I really like the new one. Love that he does his own stunts.... And even flew that chopper alone and did that dive in it. Dude is awesome.
He was THE big star in Hollywood until the Scientology stuff and the fallout with the weird moments including his stuff with Brooke Shields and then the weird Katie Holmes stuff. His movies are always pretty good and I think he ranges from good to very good in basically every movie he does.
I'm not a Tom Cruise fan at all, mostly as I don't care the genre of movies he puts out. (Jack Reacher, ALL Mission Impossible stuff.) Collateral though was pure perfection for me for a movie. So much so that I bought it to put in my Prime Movies collection to watch when traveling, along with American Made- that was a great movie too.
He's the most media-friendly face of an organization that practices slavery, just for starters. I'm not going to get into a discussion about the Scientologists, there's enough easy info out there for you.
not to turn this into d&d, but i wasn't aware scientology practices slavery. i thought it was a cult on scientific research and space exploration.
That's the last one I've watched, I'm a sucker for sci-fi and that did not disappoint at all. Great flick.
