I'm definitely biased since I love Watson but if you swapped both of them I'd think both teams would still be in the exact same spot.

He might not be. They are on the same tier

Mahomes is better but I am extremely happy we had Watson. Not every team can have the best at a position but Watson is way up there.

Andy Reid, the scheme, WRs that help out Mahomes's strength, which is his arm strength, a good O line

Probably because he's doing things that have never been done by anyone in the history of the game, and setting endless records along the way. No one else did this with Andy Reid. Other teams have had loaded talent around them and never done this kind of stuff.

Where is the "he holds the ball too long" and "he takes too many sacks" crowd that has been all over this board lately?

Arguments like this are hilarious. Stupid, but hilarious. Does it matters than Mahomes has played 6 fewer games? Or has less turnovers? Or higher efficiency ratings? You literally cherrypicked a handful of numbers to say they are the same. I could also say this:

Deshaun 6,642 yards 51 tds, 883 rush yards 9 rush tds = 7,525 total yards, 60 total touchdowns
Vince Young 8,098 yards 46 tds, 1459 rush yards 12 rush tds = 9,557 total yards, 58 total touchdowns

Are those two similar because of the same cherrypicked numbers?

Mahomes is statistically better in every efficiency metric - QBR, QBRating, Yards/Pass, Yards/Completion, TD%, INT %, etc. And he wins in every volume stat as well. The only thing Watson is better at is running, which the team doesn't want him to do as much of anyway due to injury issues.

He still does that, but essentially thats the same as everybody saying offensive scheme.

Not really - you can hold onto the ball too long because the scheme sucks, or you can hold onto the ball too long because you're making bad decisions/scared/whatever, or you can hold onto the ball too long because you're trying to make big plays. Big Ben, for example, has always gotten sacked a lot, but it's never been a huge concern because people tend to agree it's his decision and he makes a lot of big plays as a result, which balances it out. I don't think any of us are sure which category Watson falls into just yet.

    ratings are out:
Pretty much agree with all of them except the goat aka uggs should be no.1
    http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...eshaun-watson-rises-into-top-five-in-rankings

What exactly is he doing? Did he break the TD record last year? Beat Brady? Even yards, take Manning's 2013 season and put that Manning in 2018 or Peyton @ 24 years old in Today's style and it would be the same results, nothing ground breaking. You guys just fawn over the new shiny object.

We say scheme because the offense has the advantage. Reid, like Hoodie use the soft rules to their advantage. No doubt Mahomes has a strong arm but many of his passes, 185+ of them went to TEs, RBs. Scheming, routes that get the receiver open with no defender near sight. You'll see when they play our Defense. Mahomes would not have the same success here. You're kidding yourself if you think so.
And if you search the 2017 draft thread, I wanted to draft one of these two and it wasn't Watson.

Well of course he wouldn't - he'd have BoB as coach and a terrible o-line. But that's different than saying Watson would be the best in the NFL with Andy Reid, which is what Mahomes is. We have no idea what Watson would do in that scenario. Lots of people would be better with Andy Reid as coach.

Deshaun has been making history even with so-so coaching. This is why I think he is better. Mahomes has had everything available to him from day one.

Yep, deshauns coaching is flat out bad. The ol still sucks. Mahomes is in an elite offensive system.

I'm not saying Deshaun is better but it's debatable

Come on guys, lets not be ridiculous.... Watson is a beast! Glad he's a Texan and hope he retires a Texan, but Mahomes is better!

I was one for sitting him but the differing factors were, we didnt have a vet for him to learn from and now in hindsight, didnt have a coach to learn from either.
