Why am I not surprised you discuss political issues on Facebook. But to address the question as to why you started the thread... you intended it to somehow lessen the importance of the Charlottesville and Trump's offensive remarks. Crime in the black community, and crime in Chicago are both very important topics and warrant discussion and hopefully solutions. But your attempt to uses these two important topics as a distraction from another important topic suggests you really don't think they are important.
I think the point that you missed was that nonsense like Charlottsville and the continued focus on 2-5% of the population that support KKK/white nationalist ideology is the distraction to keep the focus off of the real problems.
Its not just the focus of the media or the Mass hysteria on Charlottesville its the not wanting to admit that blacks have internal that can only be solved by blacks. It doesn't matter how the problem started.
Can you do something for me? Take the black population for any given year, whatever is the nearest to the current year...then take the amount of black murderers...get the % of actual black people that are killing people... Spoiler alert, you're going to find that actually IIRC 99% of black people are not killers. So @amaru is not talking about anecdotes here. Most people don't run into black on black crime unless they live in certain areas. It would be far more productive I think to look into the culture of said region/area instead of twisting the narrative to make it seem like black people are somehow more violent than others. When you do the latter, you do not help things, not at all. Anyways...looks like we've done a lot in that area.... http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-m...-trump-wrong-inner-city-crime-reaching-recor/ Of course, we can always do more, but at the same time, we're never going to completely eradicate violent crime.
pgabriel, it all depends on where you live. Looking at it from a national perspective, Charlottesville, of course. It has had and will continue to have a large impact on the national psyche, in my opinion. (ATW, that was hilarious! Intentionally funny or not!)
Sir Jackie I explained what happened in another post why I disappeared in a thread you responded to. Yes I started a thread about a time in county jail for unpaid tickets
No, it's not a problem tied to race. It's a problem tied to gangs, drugs, poor education, etc etc. The problem has nothing to do with race.
I missed it - would you mind linking to it or sharing the cliff notes? What happened? It does seem like your political views are very different since you came back, and the spelling is better.
No, my post proves that your narrative is wrong in the first place. You just ignored it. It's just denial really. This old narrative never dies out does it? The funny thing and sad thing is it is the same thing White Nationalists say and point to, the same stats. Meanwhile, radical feminists point to the same stats about men and violence, but you'll never see people make a fuss about that. What should we do about male violence?
What's a bigger problem for (blank) community, real problems or some vague notion of the boogyman? Of course we'd have people picking Baba Yaga
