So he protects the rim relative to Anderson? Hardly an accomplishment. And an odd way of highlighting it as one of his strengths. Melo averaged .7 blocks per game in his ten games with us. That's what I'll remember most about Melo: his rim protection.
That's effectively a 4M/year contract in the NBA. Not to mention the Chinese season is shorter. I don't think anybody is paying him more than 4M/year in the NBA. He should sign this deal... Unless he's thinking of joining a Euroleague club.
Yet Ryno is on roster and unplayable even though Rockets need backup 5 when Tyson has to rest on back to back games. Context, look it up.
No one cares that Faried is a marginally better shot blocker than Ryno. He's not even a significantly better defender overall than Ryno. I have never liked Anderson, but his shooting is what's keeping him in the league and Faried doesn't have that. Faried isn't being blackballed by MDA, he's been thrown to the curb by three NBA teams. And Ryno is happy to be a third string player whereas Faried is likely not thrilled with the prospect.
Bottom line, Faried is better fit on Rockets than Ryno. We know that KF can help team win games in regular season at least. Faried is a capable starter if Capela or Tyson unavailable, this has been proven. Ryno cannot even get on the floor.
Does Faried even want to play for us anymore? We offered a contract to Shump and he turned us down, even though he is currently unemployed. And the fit is different now. Last year we had a PG that could shoot but not rebound and this year we have a PG that can rebound but not shoot. No one ever said the OKC Thunder needed to put rebounders that can't defend around Westbrook.
Whether Faried wants to.play for Houston is different topic. And yes, Faried still fits team with Westbrook, arguably better fit than with CP3.
Yea I gotta stop you here. Having a debatable opinion is one thing, but uttering pure stupidity is unacceptable. At no point last year was Faried EVER worse than Ryan Anderson defensively. Ryan Anderson couldn't stay in front of a lawn chair. Faried is at times slow on rotations. Ryan Anderson's possibly the worst defender in NBA history
Years later, we finally have an answer to this important question. Those of you who though this guy belonged in the NBA were half right!
