I live in Seattle and a colleague of mine is close with Aaron and speaks to him quite often. He spoke to him last night and said Aaron is expecting to get 30 million for 4 years and his agent is looking for 40 million. If that type of market exists for him, no way we offer anything close.
Don't know how reliable that is, but if true, that's a joke. He didn't even play in the NBA last season, and the one before that he was a disaster. I'd say he gets paid no more than 5 mil a year
It's a reliable source, I guess you'll have to take my word for it. I told the guy that that's way too much considering he was inching last year, but Aaron and his agent think his past performance and success in china would warrant the money. He's wishful thinking on this.
Best case scenario.... We get Dwight and sign Aaron and make just enough noise in the playoffs to convince Dwight to stay and he convinces Paul... Aaron might now sign here just for the fact that he might be gone or on the bench the very next season... BETTER scenario (actually)... We get Dwight and sign Aaron and AB plays at a level close to what he did before the ankle injury and we get an absolute steal at pg... Then we use the cap room to max out another position(cant think of a great FA right now) but either scenario really needs AB..
Wherever AB signs it will be for 1 year, option on 2nd. He needs to reestablish himself. Bet he does, too. Not a 40m$ bet BTW.
