TJones I think... DMO was drafted by the TWolves. Both might be gone this season.

The Hornets might want to get out of the 1st Round to preserve cap space for their free agents.

Could Morey be looking to trade Harden for D'Angelo and their No 2 pick? Just a conspiracy theory.

Maybe he's saying that to make teams he wants to trade with think he's got a lot of options. Yes, part of me still believes in Morey we trust.

Conspiracy with zero thought behind it. Harden is basically off limits. Especially with LeBron and Durant not under contract. There's literally no one under contract that the Rockets would trade Harden for. Certainly not a **** 2nd year player added to an unknown.

This could have still been the outcome if the Rockets played the first round. Maybe in the alternate universe, Jazz caused Curry to injure his knee and Green to pick up additional Ts.

There are sub-ripples in the quantum matrix.

Or maybe the Cavs won because they're the better team. Ripple ripple.

would love to get Thon Maker but my guess is Morey will draft another SF or undersized PF.

We're in a tough position and need DM to pull a rabbit out of the hat again like he did with Parsons.

I kind of look at Sam Dekker as our rookie this season anyway.

If we manage to get into the first round then all the better.

Talk is cheap, and Morey does a lot of it.

I've long been a DM supporter... but my confidence is diminishing...

the coaching carousel has been an ongoing debacle...
the inmates are running the asylum at detriment to team chemistry...
our drafting has been mediocre... a couple nice picks, but more worthless undersized
    and underperforming picks...
a seemingly overall lack of respect for overall good guys (like Battier) and more of a
willingness to gamble on players of questionable character (Royce, TWill... I won't
count Lawson as I too thought it was a good gamble...)

Morey keeps talking... but just keeps working spin, rather than anything of substance...

The main problem is that this organization has no identity! If an identity does exist... it's not a good one...

Apologies if this thread detracted from the existing Draft Threads. I thought an article revealing 'new' news that Morey is planning to move into the 1st round, and with what could be interpreted as a laid back hubris, sort of deserved its own thing. (especially after many Rockets fans are still a little chapped ass about needlessly entering a meaningless 1st round slaughter in the playoffs which lost us our 1st round pick) But I can see how the thread can quickly go into a redundant discussion.

So sticking to the letter of the thread, I wanted to show the 2005 draft versus the succeeding draft year to sort of analyze what Morey was talking about when he compared this year's draft to the deepness of the '05 draft, which we can presume is his motivation for wanting to trade up into the 1st round.

First glance, I'm shocked by a decade plus of forgetfulness, but it's an immediate shocking reminder of how deep that draft truly was. It doesn't read off like the '92 Dream Team or anything. Sure there is still a lot of star power, but to me the immediate take is look at all the stay power in that draft. There's a shocking amount of guys who were able to stay in the NBA, contribute, start, have long careers, etc. Looking at the next year '06 you really see how the draft returns to normal with the hit:miss ratio. But man '05 has just so many hits. Granger, Green, Robinson, Jack, Garcia, Lee, Bass, Miles, Ilyasova, Ellis, Williams....who am I missing? Anyone else seeing it that way? Just a quick glance showing not the typical amount of duds in terms of guys who fizzle out of the NBA quickly...

So I'm pretty pumped about tomorrow. I was going to watch anyways. But now with the presumption that we are going to get a swing at the 1st round, it makes this year's draft more exciting. Before this news I was one of the many that was still bummed about losing our 1st rounder only to offer Curry some of D-Mo's butt sweat in the 1st round. Now I'm circling back to all the mock draft predictions again to eye late 1st rounders for maybe a few gems. My opinion, we need a lights out shooter. We need a pure shooter for D'Antoni's system as woefully evident from last season. Guys like Buddy Hield and Jamal Murray won't drop to where I think Morey might get us, but guys like Furkan Korkmaz and Denzel Valentine might. That's what I care about. Just get us 1 straight up assassin through the draft. Length, speed, I'm not worried about those so much. Just, can you catch and with a clean look nail down 3s in a system designed to get you tons of clean looks. That's the most immediate way I can see a rookie from the draft contributing to the team next year.

If it's so easy, you better walk away with Domantas Sabonis and Thon Maker. That's all i ask. I already don't expect a big name signing this summer, just get me what i want from the draft!

You can probably get similar value later in the draft with all the depth and could be many of these teams want to move back or out.
