palets of cash.... we should not pay tribute to lesser powers. Weak. Obama failed to make a good deal. He didn't play the strongman game.... eastern power have a way of negotiating that requires strength. The first mistake was going there to negotiate. They should have come to the us or a neautral ground.

Also the deal kicked the can... it was not a real solution.

What do you think would have happened or at least what would have it taken for N. Korean regime to agree to disarming their nuclear arsenal and allow international nuclear indpectors into their country?

No idea man. Seems off topic though. I don't recall a cash payment to buy Kim.

The Iranian Radical Shi'a Muslim was the original Islamic bad guy in the American perspective since the 70s and 80s. If you look at old Marvel comics such as 'Star Brand' you see them depicted as evil villians constantly high jacking oil ships and then there was the Iranian hostage situation.. The radical Sunni Muslim didn't emerge as the mainstream terrorist until the mid 90s I believe.

Because not all Persians/Iranians are radicalized. The stereo-typing misaligns them as an entirety.

    Ally

    noun
    /ˈalī/
a state formally cooperating with another for a military or other purpose

The US and China have mutual security, economic and even political interest. The US and Saudi Arabi have mutual security and economic interest. We aren't a traditional ally to these two nations, but we are to a point by definition. If we can be an ally with these nations, we can be with Iran.

I don't think you can rule out completely that the US can't be an ally with any nation, first of all. You have to work toward that relationship and are willing to take the chance.

Iran has shown that they are smart and very capable (don't underestimate them). From the latest event, they have again shown to be very savvy, understanding moderation, their own internal political affairs, the international view on them, the US internal politic, international laws and at least publicly, they abide by it strictly. There is room for some mutual interest between the US and Iran - and we have worked together as some posters have pointed out. As with any nation, there are the more moderate and there are the more extreme component within them. Obama's action provided the moderate a chance to succeed. Trump's action squashed the moderate. Now Iran is extremely likely marching toward nuclear weapons. Yes, he has set the relationship back.
