    It is all relative.

    IIRC
Iran was shipping 1.1 million barrels of oil a day at $48 a barrel.
Now, Iran is shipping 1.5 million barrels a day at $110 a barrel.

I am unsure how impactful the increase in oil revenue is to Iran. It is certainly a very bad look for Trump.

Actually if you look at the org chart of the Iranian government when the conflict started, they have only killed moderates and softies.

It’s not hard liners filling a vacuum. It’s just that the only people they’re not killing are hardliners. They’re being herded into those roles.

Sadly, this is yet another ruthless authoritarian-type leader that Trump admires, and this person is advocating for sending U.S. soldiers into combat.

    https://www.nytimes.com/2026/03/24/us/politics/saudi-prince-iran-trump.html

Saudi Arabia’s de facto leader, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, has been pushing President Trump to continue the war against Iran, arguing that the U.S.-Israeli military campaign presents a “historic opportunity” to remake the Middle East, according to people briefed by American officials on the conversations.

    ...

Saudi officials rejected the idea that Prince Mohammed has pushed to prolong the war.

“The kingdom of Saudi Arabia has always supported a peaceful resolution to this conflict, even before it began,” the Saudi government said in a statement, noting that officials “remain in close contact with the Trump administration and our commitment remains unchanged.”

    ...

This article is based on interviews with people who have had conversations with American officials, and who described the discussions on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitive nature of Mr. Trump’s talks with world leaders. The New York Times interviewed people with a variety of views on the wisdom of continuing the war and of Prince Mohammed’s role in advising Mr. Trump.

Prince Mohammed, an authoritarian royal who has led a sustained crackdown on dissent, is respected by Mr. Trump and has previously influenced the president’s decision-making. Prince Mohammed has argued that the United States should consider putting troops in Iran to seize energy infrastructure and force the government out of power, according to the people briefed by U.S. officials.

Could very well be that TACO is just a delay tactic. Also, nice to make a quick Billion here and there from it.

The US should not stand in the Saudi's way and let them deploy their troops to Iran.

I tend to agree. Those in the military giving him options to put boots on the ground are just giving his answers to questions he’s asking that are simple missions such as “how do we get oil flowing again to bring down prices?” For which the generals would say “well sir, to achieve that objective we need troops here there and there to ensure Iranians on the ground couldn’t open fire, etc”

There is nobody in the room actually giving their opinion and guiding Trump which is the problem nearly all authoritarian tyrants have near the end of their reign. Nobody there who dares question the leader and the military people surrounding them are trained to just answer questions in a mission objective way and don’t see there position to be one that gives advice and strategy.

Trump is fcked… he would normally be at the end in most situations…. but the main issue is that he might bring us all down with him for generations, and I’m not entirely confident he won’t be successful at staying in power till he dies by overturning our democratic system.

hate tweet, as it's devoid of all context - and it often cut off midstream, sometimes for deception

if it matters at all, outreach is very different than actual productive conversations for a complete resolution

    EDIT:
and here is the fuller context from the CNN website (this isn't new news... we know that intermediaries have been relaying messages... what's needed and is missing, of course, is direct talks) [therefore that tweet is crap, as is usual of most political tweets]:

“There has been outreach between the United States and Iran, initiated by Washington, in recent days, but nothing that has reached the level of full-on negotiations,” the source said. “Messages have been received through various intermediaries to scope out whether an agreement to end the war can be reached.”

“The proposals being looked at are aimed not merely at achieving a ceasefire, but a concrete agreement to end the conflict between the US and Iran,” they added without going into further detail.

The source refused to comment on US President Donald Trump‘s public statements on the negotiations, and emphasized Iran’s position has been always clear that Tehran is ready to consider any viable proposal.

“Iran is not asking for a meeting or direct talks with the United States but is willing to listen if a plan for a sustainable deal comes within reach that would preserve the national interests of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” the source said.

“Iran is ready to provide all the necessary guarantees that it will never develop nuclear weapons but is entitled to peaceful use of nuclear technology.” The source insisted that any proposal must also include ending all sanctions imposed on Iran.

If I was in charge of Iranian government PR, I would tweet something like ...

"Iran is seriously considering the Trump offer of
    the Statue of Liberty and
$1 trillion delivered by JD Vance on cash pallets to a Tehran airstrip
    in exchange
for peace negotiations to start in Tehran and
    for drone attacks to pause."
