G’day all... Someone close to me has written their first novel. I love the book. It has a fresh voice and approach, unique characters, and is set here in Washington. Briefly, it tells the story of an orphaned cougar cub and her interactions with humanity. It also features, in my opinion, one of the great villains in literary history. Anyway, the author is looking for feedback. Not multi-page critiques, just short opinions. If anyone would be interested in reading a book that defies the mainstream, and provides tension and laughter, let me know. I can’t offer you anything but a chance at reading something that will hopefully be on bookstore shelves soon, before anyone else. This isn’t a small book. It’s 524 pages long, and contains about 155,000 words. But it is easy to read. I can send the book in installments, several chapters long each. Post here or email me if you’re interested. Also, if anyone has any experience with finding a literary agent and getting writing published, I’d love to hear anything you have to say about it.
At the moment it's sort of hard to classify the book under one genre. That's actually one of the things we need help with. It's a thriller dealing with lust and murder, as well as an "animal story." A cougar is one of the protagonists. It also deals with the interesting phenomenon of Australians living in America. In fact, I like to think of it as a piece of "Australian Americana." Three subplots featuring three major characters intersect into one story. I highly recommend reading the first three chapters, as they introduce the most important characters. That's about 47 double-spaced Word Pages. The book has been through four drafts, and enjoyed by people from Texas to California to Sydney. Go ahead and email me, and tell me how much of the book you'd like to start with. I can't send it all at once because bloody hotmail won't send large attachments. I might be able to zip the files, however. Glad you guys are interested.
