Victory lap time we did it again cf!!

Democrats maintain control of the Senate!

The Democrats are pulling off a massive upset. A clear repudiation of orangism in purple states and a clear rejection of election deniers running for state offices such as Secretary of State positions.

Orange backed candidates of note that lost:

    • Orange backed Tudor Dixon lost in Michigan, Democrat Gretchen Whitmer won the Governors race.[1] For the first time in 40 years Michigan Democrats won a trifecta - the Democrats control the State Legislature, the State Senate & Executive.[2]

    • Election denier and Jan. 6 rally attendee Mark Finchem lost Secretary of State race in Arizona.[3] Democrat Adrian Fontes won.

    • Election denier and Qanon ally Jim Marchant has lost his bid for Secretary of State of Nevada.[4] Democrat Cisco Aguilar flipped the SoS seat and won.

    • Orange backed election denier Blake Masters lost the Senate race in Arizona.[5] Democrat Mark Kelly won.

    • Orange backed Oz was defeated in Pennsylvania, the Democrats gained this Senate seat.[6] Democrat John Fetterman flipped the Senate seat and won.

    • Election denier and Jan. 6 rally attendee Doug Mastriano was overwhelmingly defeated in the Pennsylvania Governors race.[7] Democrat Josh Shapiro won.

    • Orange backed election denier Dan Cox lost the Governor's race in Maryland.[8] Democrat Wes Moore flipped the state and won.

    • Orange backed election denier Darren Bailey lost the Governor's race in Illinois.[9] Democrat J.B. Pritzker won.

    • Orange backed election denier Don Buldoc lost the Senate race in New Hampshire.[10] Democrat Maggie Hassan won.
    WOOO!!
    Speaking of orange cheers fellas!!

True. They vote NO on anything aimed to help Vets, elderly, those with healthcare and mental healthcare needs, reducing inflation, domestic violence, reducing the price of prescription drugs, price gouging, etc.. They are hell bent on making Americans suffer so they can blame it on Democrats.

We’re still waiting to see if Kari Lake wins but things aren’t looking good for her even though Hobbs ran a terrible race. Of course we’ll see what happens with Herschel Walker. The only other Trump backed prominent race that went his way was JD Vance. That one is disappointing as Tim Ryan ran a really good race and Vance wasn’t a good candidate.

My feeling is that Trumpism doesn’t go down in fire but is more like a campfire slowly going out. There are still a lot of Republicans very loyal to Trump including many in office. Those will gradually lose their ardor for him as other figures like DeSantis step up. People like McCarthy, Lindsey Graham and Ted Cruz will act like they never actually supported Trump and suddenly forget who he is. Trump will continue to rage but the less Republicans who are aligned with him win he will become more irrelevant.

What might change things is the state of the prosecutions of him. It’s possible if criminal indictments actually happen there could be a rally around Trump effect. Given how poorly Trump’s candidates are doing this might be the opportunity yet again for Republican leadership to separate them from him.

It will flip if my new BFF Reverend Warnock, who texts me about four times a day, wins Georgia. Will nullify Manchin's R leanings, too.

You can already see in in the GOP Propaganda machine's leanings that Trump is on the way out. He's a negative so they don't want him around anymore.

I think this actually might expedite his felony conviction somewhere, even if it's just tax evasion and he doesn't go to jail. Felony record = can't run for president. It's a nice, tidy way for the GOP to shuffle him on his way.

I strongly suspect that secretly McCarthy and many others hope Trump gets convicted.

Lombardo, the new NV governor, was also a Trumpian. Fortunately, everyone around him seems like will be a Democrat, so the damage he can do is limited.

This actually isn't right - felony conviction doesn't stop anyone from the Presidency. The secret-records act specifically mentions it for that particular crime, but whether it's legally enforceable is in question.

As far as Trump in general, he's going to use the "party elites" turning on him to his advantage, as he did in 2016.

It's shocking that the Republicans couldn't win the Senate and do better given how bad inflation is. Just incredible.

I was sure it was going to be a red wave.

There is the pesky partisan gerrymandering and primaries.

I said Trumpism has at least one more cycle and might live on forever.

Perhaps moderate Republicans are willing to join Dem to push for and pass democracy reform legislations.

It is interesting to see people lose their support of Trump even though he did in 4 years what Republicans campaigned on for decades and never actually followed through on and now that's what early 2000s conservatives want to go back to even though 1990s-2000s conservatism got us the War on Terror, permanent bush tax cuts, the great Recession and the rise of Trump.

Understanding how incredibly unlikeable Trump is, why would you want to go back to those days as though it wasn't a total shitshow for the U.S. either? People go on and on about the future of the Democratic Party, but the Republican party was on it's death bed to the point where a candidate as unlikeable as Hillary Clinton likely would have won in 2016 if not for Trump. That'd be 3 USSC Justices swinging the interpretation of the Constitution that would likely not aim to strike down Roe, Civil Rights Act and Obergefell vs Hodges. Might have actually seen the overturning of Citizens United even. People preferred an orange conman over someone that helped insure 9.6 million kids from low income families in the 1990s and worked for universal healthcare as early as 1993. To each their own I guess.

I am hopeful the geriatrics get washed out in the next election.
