Poor Coog fans have such terrible little brother syndrome when compared to Rice. Rice is an elite academic institution, the only school in Texas ranked consistently in the top 20 by US News. For their boasts, UH can only cling to their mediocre mid-major athletics program, that just got boat-raced by Army in a throwaway bowl! I actually feel sorry for the coogs.
But Rice sucks at football. That is the reason you play them, not their academic standing. Lol. Pathetic excuse Texas will play ANY school in texas before they play houston.
Of course they will - Houston demonstrated incompetence when they couldn't set up seats safely the last time UT played them. Texas doesn't care how good UH is - they hold a permanent grudge from that stunning display of stupidity and how it affected UT's fans. There's simply no reason or benefit for UT to play UH at this point.
Given Del Conte's ties to Rice I seriously doubt that changes anytime soon. Rice gets funding for their athletic department, UT fans in Houston get to see a game in town every few years. eta: Oh, and that whole recruiting in Houston thing, too. I do think it's funny that UT will schedule USC, Notre Dame, LSU, Alabama, Michigan etc... but are p*****s because they won't play a team that's finished the season ranked in the polls twice since 1990.
Bingo. Tomstro just got eviscerated. Buck - it's not just CDC's ties to Rice - those ties run much deeper. Don't forget Tom Herman (former OC), Yancy McKnight (strength coach), Jason Washington, Drew Mehringer (WR), Craig Naivar (Special teams).... It's practically Rice-West! That's why I've become a Texas fan.
I'm proud of you, texxie. Yep, the 2 schools have always had a good relationship, they'd practically have to given UT's presence right next door in the Med Center and the research opportunities that provides for Rice students/faculty. Now why can't you nerds fix your basketball program?
Thats an old excuse and gets older and crappier every year. It has nothing to do with that anymore. It’s fear and fear alone. BTW, we have a great new stadium and we will play you anywhere.
Keep believing that, I guess, if it makes you happy. Of course they will - but UT doesn't care enough to play UH. There is no real reason for UT to play them. Right or wrong, it is what it is.
And it would be more of a challenge to your houston recruiting if we were whoopin your ass everytime you came to town.
UT's business school is ranked higher than Rice's. That was all that was important to me considering that was my major. Carry on.
Judging from Judging from this year's attendance record, Cougars don't care about their football team.
