FIFA rankings sucks, and are always wrong.

    http://www.fifa.com/worldranking/

the last ones were on Jun 5, and they have Portugal at no.4 ahead of Argentina, Italy, Netherlands

they have Switzerland at no. 6

they have Greece, USA, Chile, Portugal, Switzerland better than Netherlands? really?

    Spain at no.1? really?

    Check this out, david_rocket:
I knew he was going to try to dismiss this Cup's final rankings and ignore them...
    LOLOLOL
...but watch Mexico end up in better FIFA Ranking, too... and even then he will ignore that, too.

Come on dd you know better than to look at the fifa rankings.

I would rate the usa and Mexico similar. In the qualification the us made a better impression. In the tournament mexico made a better impression.

Are there some young Mexican talents? All I saw were guys from 4 or 6 years ago.

They might have the better individual players but both have good teamplay

    US is less homophobic.

yep, people left in the bench, and some of the starters are still young, around 26 years old.

raul jimenez played some minutes this world cup, but plays great, and would have more experience next world cup.

A fair amount of young talent coming through in your Mexico side.
I like Alan Pulido but I don't even remember if he saw the field in the tournament.

Hector Herrera, Marco Fabian and Javier Aquino are all under 26 and for the most part impressed, especially Herrera.

Also did Brizuela make the team? That's another good young kid.

The USA has a lot of talented young kids coming through lately, moreso than a decade ago but Mexico is still churning out talent as well.

Ugh. Fine... I'll revive this thread...
 I know DD "yanks chains" but even he believes his own lies. But this isn't a thread about the qualification. That was another thread no longer active.

The question here is the World Cup 2014. USA lost 2 games. Mexico only lost one, gathered 7 points, received only 3 goals in the entire tournament.

They did have Brizuela available, ferrari77. Just imagine what we could do if Vela wasn't such a baby about playing for his national team.

Yes, Mexico played better in the WC, the rankings ecompass more than that, and I am quite sure that if the USA faced Mexico the USA would win, again.

Quotable reply is quotable. You admit the "what happened" and still wish on the "what ifs." Thank you, sir.

There is no what ifs Mexico finished 4th in qualifying when they faced the same competition, in Brazil they had a vastly different draw - results are therefore unable to be completely compared.

And in the end, both failed in the round of 16.

This is the World Cup 2014 thread. Do you want to discuss Brazil 2014, or qualifying? From the get-go, this isn't about qualifying. At the end of the day, other teams would rather face USA as an easier opponent than face Mexico and if given the chance to watch a good football game, they'd pick Mexico over the USA due to what they saw in the World Cup... not qualifying. Go back and relive qualifying if you want to keep dreaming of "success" with your team. Mine wasn't as successful then, but that's in the past and the latest World Cup 2014 results are what counts. See you in 2015.

I just want you to admit what everyone knows, that the USA is better at soccer/futbal than Mexico.

How is this thread still going on? There is no UMNT at the 2014 World Cup.

Well, true, sadly, we lost to Germany 1-0 though, and clearly that makes us better than Brazil !!

Everytime something ends, all conversation on that topic must cease immediately and forever.
