House Now Has The Votes To End Government Shutdown, But It Won't

WASHINGTON -- Less than two days after the government shut down, there are now more than 17 Republicans who say they're ready to pass a bill to fund the government with no strings attached, giving the House the votes it needs to pass a clean funding bill.
All 200 Democrats would need to stick together and team up with those Republicans to pass the bill, but House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) would have to be willing to put it to a vote, which so far he has given no indication he will do. But if he does, the votes appear to be there. The Senate would pass the bill in no time, sending it to be signed by President Barack Obama and ending the shutdown.
Read the tally here to see who those House Republicans are, and why they say they're done with trying to force through provisions on Obamacare before agreeing to keep the government running.
Of course, we'll update the list when, or if, more come in.
This is a developing story and has been updated.

It really is amazing to see how little leadership the Speaker has shown, and how beholden he is to 30 crazy people in his caucus.

Republicans trying to bring the country to its knees because outlawing pre-existing conditions and providing people health insurance takes away from our freedoms.

Obama can't compromise on this one.

To do would be to allow the right to use the debt ceiling vote as a political device to hold the government hostage.

GOP is finished as a national party. Once Obamacare settles in, it will be more popular than big boobs on a stripper, and voters will remember. :)

Right wingers are obsessed with glitch p*rn. Of course there are going to be glitches and they will be corrected. Big Deal.

And you know what the biggest glitch is, being an honest hard working tax paying American citizen unable to purchase health insurance because you have a pre existing condition. But right wingers never cared about that glitch.

Obamacare is here to stay. Deal with it.

How is that a glitch? It's INSURANCE. If you have an existing condition, you shouldn't be able to START paying for care when you need it. You pay before you need it so that you cover some of the costs that are offset by healthy consumers. Now those who lose insurance once their condition worsens is another story, but I have no sympathy for people who don't have insurance and then demand that insurers cover them.

Let the flaming begin, it's not like anything penetrates the liberals minds in this forum anyways.

Medical insurance shouldn't be a "for profit" business.
