Just watched the first episode of a new Netflix original series called Ugly Delicious, a food show hosted by chef David Chang. Before you roll your eyes, this show is great! first episode was about pizza, and they went around the world to look at pizza in different contexts. Really a quirky show, great editing, great premise, a lot of humor, I think this really adds a new dimension to food shows. Anyone else watch it?
Saw the pizza one and the Houston one. Definitely a good show. I would love to do a pizza tour of NYC, Naples and Japan I guess...
Just wait til epi 4: the crawfish one. David really loves the food scene in Houston and shows love to this city every time. https://www.gq.com/story/david-chang-houston-food-city
Yeah I've watched the BBQ & taco episodes. I don't watch a lot of food stuff but I enjoyed it more than anything I have seen besides Anthony Bourdain stuff. It seemed unique. I also agree with the 1st post, the editing is very well done.
Great show......my favorite is the taco episode, but there's a lot of connecting points to some of my favorite chefs, restaurants and places in that episode. I was at the fishing show this past weekend at GRB, and they had a beautiful new Tran Sport shallow water boat there. Donny Tran (the owner of Tran Sport......which is located in Palacios) was there, so I asked him if he had seen the Houston/New Orleans/shrimp/crawfish episode. It's funny, because I'm not even sure Donny knows what netflix is, but no he had not seen it. It's also funny because when I told him about the Palacios connection and if he was related to the Trans interviewed in that episode, he said that yes, that was his nephew who owned the restaurant there. He then proceeded to whip out his phone and show me a picture of him with Anthony Bourdain from the time with Bourdain also ran a show that featured Palacios. Good to see that little town and those Vietnamese shrimpers getting some national love.
Awesome. Saw it last night. Only watched the Houston Episode. Love it. I’ll probably catch the other stuff at a later date
I love it, David Chang is hilarious but some of the Asian feminist on twitter don't like what he is saying. I'll say this, don't be a sensitive C***!!!!
Are we in the minority that actually likes David Chang? I didn't even know there were so many people that "hated" him. Saw the Fried Chicken episode and was like "damn am i racist?!?"
Aziz randomly popping up in Japan with the sushi pizza was a nice surprise. I'm halfway thru the first episode and it's not too bad.
Just finished it. Really enjoyed it. That Houston episode rocked. Anyone else cringe at the Fried Rice episode with the Asian girl just complaining about this and that, JESUS man.
