No no no, you guys are confusing 2 things. One was that an alien craft was supposed to come down this weekend at an event in a stadium in Florida. The other is the Obama acknowledgement on the 27th. DD

I see your approach but disagree with the perceived outcome. You seem to think that as a global society we are more afraid of ETs. Individually, yes, but on a global conscious level, I think the complete opposite. Yes, Hollywood is great at scaring the crap out of us for a moment. And that is their intent, and make money, but the side affect is that we, as a global consciousness, are more aware than ever before. Whether they portrayed ETs as bad or good is immaterial. It's the awareness of them that is most important...to me anyway. Take away the individual fears and what you have left is global awareness. And that is what makes the world go around.
It seems to me that if the government or anyone else were using Hollywood to desensitize us to aliens so as to prevent mass chaos if their existence were disclosed...that Hollywood has done a pretty crappy job with that task. Because I think FOR MOST PEOPLE, when they think of alien encounters it involves something sinister.
I think you miss interpret my intent a few post back. When I stated, "Started with CE3K and it will end with Obama", I didn't mean to say that someone/something outside of Hollywood were pushing Hollywood's buttons, nor will it actually end with Obama. That post was said somewhat tongue in cheek. I was trying to counter DD's comment, "For some reason, I think a slow release and admittance over time would be more prudent than a sudden shock" by showing how our awareness is so much better than when the first War Of The Worlds came out. "Sudden Shock" fits the first half of the 20th century, not the 21st century. Yes, Max, maybe most people do think of ETs as sinister. But you cannot denied that when they finally pay us a visit and shake our hand, we're not going to lose our religion over it as was thought earlier. Why? Because somewhere deep in our psyche we're making adjustments in our beliefs system to accommodate the what ifs. Anyway, the Predator turned out to be a pretty nice chap.

Man, some of you are taking this thread WAY too seriously. We’re talking about a thread in which the OP says there is (was) going to be an alien landing in a stadium in Florida this past weekend….and that the government has bought an hour of airtime to announce it to the country this Friday. When asked for proof, he just posts a few YouTube videos with scary music. I mean, seriously. Why are we not mercilessly mocking the OP into submission? This is the HANGOUT, for crying out loud!!
