Yeah, I heard a lot of that too. Especially from the ADOS and Reparations crowd. It's just so tough when the Dems have to be all things to so many different groups.
Pretty freaking mess up that the game you have to play to get elected POTUS is down to a few folks in the midwest. That needs to be change at some point in the future. The good news is I don't think it's critical to win back over the midwest "swing voters" to defeat Trump. In the midwest, or swing states, Trump margin of victory was razor thin to start with. There was a depressed turn out among DEM. There was a sizable deflect from Bernie supporters to Trump (without that, Trump would have lost). Trump is not likely going to hold onto the same "swing voters". His tax cuts doesn't help them but help the top. His trade war with China hasn't help them but has destroyed many of their farms. His anti-Obama care has cut into their health safety net. His anti-labor pro-busn is pushing some of them away. And yes, not as important, but they do care about the nation becoming too divisive, too political, too partisan, and a President that is so dang racist and the inhuman treatment of immigrant and family separation - enough on the margin to count. The DEM are going to turn out and turn out big. Don't need to said much more about this. The Bernie supporters that crossed over... yea, I don't think many of them stay crossed over. I'm too concern about the DEM going too far left and hope they steer back a bit, but they also need to be careful about not depressing their turnout... you would think Trump is enough, but you never know with these young DEM voters (I got nothing nice to said about.. never mind).
This. Trump is a stupid ******* but he is politically smart. The Dems are totally falling for the bait and are being boxed in. This is why I prefer a centrist...
Except he hasn't helped blue collar voters at all. I mean from the corporate tax breaks, to the job losses in steel and coal and other manufacturing companies like Boeing in these Midwest states you've been bringing up. Never mind that he never even came up with a healthcare policy, besides just giving lip service and I still remember Trump and Republican majority Congress holding CHIP hostage for a ****ing wall that will never be built. Red states like Arizona were on the brink of spending all of their rainy day emergency funding for CHIP before Congress continued budgeting it. That's tens of millions of low income children with chronic illnesses held hostage for a ****ing wall and you're telling me Trump is on the little guy's side? Give me a ****ing break. His rhetoric is it's not your fault you're in squalor. It's foreigners here. And that resonates sadly with far more people in this country I could ever imagine. I don't necessarily know how to reach out to those people if evidence in policies enacted or ended show the opposite of concern for the lower and middle class voters you are describing. Lip service is fine I guess for them, and that's all Trump does. And spread hatred. Kudos to the stupid supporters that eat **** sandwich up.
So why don't you start a thread about the topic? I get that you don't want to give your opinion. Your response makes it clear, however, and I understand your purpose. Have fun.
However the working class has continually I don’t think Nook is claiming that Trump is literally helping them but that they feel someone is looking out for them. I definitely agree with that sentiment considering the blue collar population have continually rejected help and voted for someone who acts like a pro wrestler.
I guess but I also look at evidence if someone is giving me lip service. If I'm being told I'm going to be helped and then policies that help me and similar people like me are removed that make my life worse or more difficult but I'm still being fed the same message, it wouldn't take long for me to become a cynic of the person claiming to help me. But that's just me using my brain I guess. I guess if things don't improve, the next best thing is to blame foreigners or people that look like foreigners as to why they're obstructing Trump from giving them the help they need and why their actual living conditions haven't improved. That's the message I receive from Trump and supporters. Never mind that it's all bullshit lip service. And I know Nook is just offering a rationale behind his supporters. I just think those gullible schmucks are suckers and hopeless even if a Dem did propose and enact policies that could ultimately benefit them.
Sadly, if you are still trying to justify the abhorrent behavior of the mistake-in-chief, you might need to retake that racial sensitivity training at work. A couple of times.
I just got back from going out to eat, so I've got a bit of time at the moment. I just want to let you know that what you are doing is perfectly clear to me. You are attempting to steer a discussion about blatantly racist tweets by Mr trump to a discussion of those tweets, and others, as simply being "campaign strategy." What does that do? It implies that trump's open bigotry "isn't real." That is is simply "shrewd political strategy." By doing that, you are making excuses, in a subtle way (not that subtle), for his racist tweets. By going out of your way to make this thread, a condemnation of trump's clear racist statements, clear to even the less politically aware people in this country, into something else. A discussion of trump not as the racist he is, that he has a decades long history of being, into a discussion of trump the "shrewd political strategist." It's clever, I'll give you that, but I thought it needed to be pointed out what you are doing, and why. It's perfectly obvious to me. You are far from the only person to do that. It's done by Fox News talking heads everyday, and at right wing political websites. It is not the least bit "new and fresh," unless you are simply uninformed and are being fooled yourself. With all due respect, of course. What you've been doing is reasonably well done. Carry on.
Trump has certainly pushed me more left. I'll take a full blown socialist if it means repudiating Republicans dog whistling. Money and the economy can recover. Allowing racists to continue in power where more extreme policies target minorities in an increasing minority demographic will lead to violence and a societal breakdown.
Which is itself ridiculous -- in fact, it is a "racist", or at least prejudicial/discriminatory policy.
The Supreme Court doesn't decide what words exist or not exist. You clearly do not understand the role of the Court. Hate speech exists. It is real. Racism is real. When people tell you to go back to the country you came from that is both hateful and racist. Hateful speech IS hate speech. Seems like you like to defend racism a lot.
