Excellent post. If some want to keep using traffic deaths as a comparison, we could also trot out the following logic: do you have to pass any sort of test or training to operate a car? Okay, if you like this analogy, make damned sure someone is both immune from the virus and not contagious before you let them work in public. Those insisting on the terrible car-to-virus analogy are basically saying, "yeah, we're going to let everyone, with no training to drive and no licensing, including any third grader, any blind person, any crazy person, a person with no limbs... all of them can go at in on the roadways for the good of the economy. Just the cost of doing business."
Legality of this is highly suspect... but hey, trump doesn't respect laws and likes to hear himself talk anyway...
It's really galling (again, not surprising, at all) the extent to which he insists on making the pandemic about himself. He's pulling the levers. He's making the (random) decisions. He's telling the nation what (misinformation) to think. The more we can just ignore him, the better for the nation's health. We should support media outlets which give us non-Trump, medical and scientific coverage of the pandemic.

of course. Not only them, people from other hotspots and major cities will flock in the countryside trying to outrun the pandemic and find a safe place to "hide". It isn't Wuhan only that this has happened but every country in the world that was hit. Italy, Spain, France, Germany, UK etc etc

It's idiotic to quarantine NYC at this stage. The virus has ALREADY spread throughout the entire country and is community spreading through out the country. Quarantines of regions should have been done 2 months ago. The NYC epidemic didn't come directly from China but via Europe - they know this from virus strains. Had Trump shut down travel with Europe months ago then yes, it would have made an impact. Too little too late.
