Some of the best people I've ever met are Viets who settled on the Texas/LA coast. Hard working sumbitches who risked their lives to get here and basically epitomize the American Dream.

It isn't even a big number of deportations we're talking about, and becomes less and less relevant as time goes by. Why take the political hit so you can deport 10k people? It must be ideological (e.g., nativist) if you're willing to pay a political price for little practical benefit. Its a sympathetic group -- Vietnamese who fled because of their opposition to communism. The larger Vietnamese-American community will resent it, Asian-Americans generally may resent it, Cold Warriors should resent it.
