This is the REAL problem, IMO. Now we're stuck in a cycle of incivility and new lows are being achieved every day.

Can anyone recommend a non-biased news source? I don't believe there is one. You'd think the AP would be but spin creeps it's way in.

Try CNN or Fox News I heard they're very unbiased sources...

To answer the OP, no character doesn’t really matter. People support Trump because they support some part of his policies. He has successfully cobbled together a coalition of special interest group voters.

Trump isn’t really a religious person or a Christian. He will however push for pro-life Supreme Court Justices, he will support protections for fundamentalist Christians and will push traditional values so fundamentalists will vote for him. He will support deportation of Mexicans, a strong border and Mexican children in cages. This appeals to racists and also to working class blue collar voters that believe their wages are lower because of inexpensive Mexican labor. He supports tariffs which also are popular with blue collar workers. Because of his ability to navigate relations with the Senate and his ability to depict himself as a victim, he keeps a lot of Republicans.

None of these voters (other than those that crave an authoritarian ruler) believe he is a great man or even a role model. They like him because he supports their values or issues. It is something that is difficult for Democrats to understand.

Does the majority of America like or support him? Absolutely not. He lost the popular vote and many anti-Trump people didn’t show up to vote. He does have a 66% chance of winning because of the electoral college, there are voters that in private support him and because of the economy.

Democrats are concerned with him being unethical (he is) and being a terrible person and liar (he is) while his supporters only care if he is successfully pushing their agenda (mixed results) and any failings are because he has a bullseye on his back.

If you are polite these days you get run over.

Time to wallow in the mud and call the truth the truth, until the GOP decides that it is better to use decorum...

The only way he wins is if the electoral college puts him back in the 63mill that voted for him will all have to do it again and the same by the 66 mill that didn't vote for him.

Tesla’s stock took a hit just from Elon Musk smoking a blunt on a podcast. If Zuckerberg went full racist I would expect similar results.

Trump is an insult to anyone who has to wear big boy pants and act as if they’re the face of the company. If America was one person, the president should embody that person

Need to make sure that every working class person is told the reason they'd vote Trump is because they're racist.

Every single one, it worked in the UK, it's gonna work in the US too

Yes, it’s important, just not as important. My values are more important. Wait, good characters are not a value?

If you can view the USA as a family unit, and you get to elect a leader every 4 years... how do you think electing a horrible human being affect the family? Character should be very important for all, but it’s unfortunately not important enough and the family as a whole will suffer immediately and for a long time after that leader is gone.

I find this narrative so ****ing stupid.

Voting for someone grossly unqualified for the position of President out of spite is self evident enough that the name calling is deserved. It's such a child like reason to elect such a powerful position.

Imagine if the left votes out of a desire to "own" the people who call them "unAmerican","libtards", "Muslim terrorist sympathizers" etc. Instead they vote out of a idealistic desire to implement what many percieve to be unpragamtic policy goals.

Diversify your portfolio. Just like owning many stocks insulates you from idiosyncratic risk of a single company, a single industry, or a single economic phenomenon, reading many news sources at the same time will diversify away your partisanship risk.

I think half these high up politicians are pedophiles and should be shot

Trump is a jackass but at least he’ll tell you he’s a jackass which is somewhat respectable

I forgot the corollary -- don't recommend particular stocks to your friends because you'll get blamed if the price goes down. Likewise, don't post dumb takes from news outfits because you'll get blamed for their bad arguments.

    ;)
