what about that girl that was traveling to Africa that made a comment about those countries all having the aids and posted on FB? She would make a tremendous foreign policy advisor or the hot racist chick from the ucla library ? Blonde, legs like Ivanka.

So, the back story is dhs secretary nielson went to a mexican restuarant for dinner last night and protesters approached he in the restaurant. The dhs spokesperson went to extents to position the dinner as a "working dinner".

Who cares if he joined Sons of Confederate Veterans?

I have a number of family members that fought and died in battle for the Confederacy. It was over 150 years ago and involved US citizens...... I don't really see why it is relevant. Hell, Clint Eastwood and a number of other people have been associated with the group.

No offense intended to your family members, but we are talking about someone being considered for an important position in our government. So yes, his judgement today (not 150 years ago) is important. If he was waving a confederate flag do you think he would be acceptable? But hey, he will have the opportunity to explain these things in front of congress.

Oh, and as much as I enjoy Clint Eastwood's movies... I wouldn't vote for him, or support him for a position in government.

I'd call it a little done deaf, or maybe not since pissing off liberals makes Republican voters happier than tax cuts.

Is being descended from a Confederate something to actually be proud of? The Confederacy itself is nothing to take pride in.

No worries. You don't have to worry about offending me. My family, like many, fought for the Confederacy because they happened to live in a state in the South and they didn't have a whole lot of choice. To them, from the writings and letters I have read, they fought because they were afraid of being attacked and they believed they were defending their home. They didn't own slaves and didn't seem terribly politically inclined. I don't judge them for fighting for the Confederacy based on what I have read concerning their knowledge. I have little doubt they would have fought for the Union had they been born in another state.

Tone deaf? I think that is a fair point, especially if he joined recently.

The Confederacy is nothing to take pride in? To me it isn't so much pride as it is a connection to history. I don't judge someone that had a relative that fought for Japan during WW2 or a number of other wars or sides that are viewed as the aggressor.
