Bill O'Brien, Romeo Crennel, Ryan Mallett, and Brian Hoyer are all Patriots hand-me-downs. It's no secret Bob McNair's crush on Robert Kraft, Bill Belichick, Tom Brady, and Co runs pretty deep, which has led the Texans to become the Patriots Light Edition. Well, at least on paper. However, this mistaken philosophy that if we somehow acquire pieces from the most successful franchise of the past two decades, that it will somehow rub off on us and lead to our success is a complete fraud and destroying this franchise. The fact is the Belichick pupils have never seen success without their master and the Brady backups have never won outside Foxboro. The list of former Patriots flameouts is pretty long and includes the likes of Charlie Weiss, Eric Mangini, Josh McDaniels, Scott Pioli, Matt Cassell, etc. It's time we stop acting like we want to be the Patriots 2.0 when we lack the greatest coach-QB tandem in NFL history. This road will only lead to disaster, hint: Hackenberg in 2016. I for one am tired of bringing former Patriots and their cronies only to see us compete for mediocrity or worse. Time to cut ties with this entire philosophy and star fresh with a new identity and brand that is uniquely Texans and not trying to emulate the Patriots or some other successful team.
McNair doesn't have a crush on anyone. You hire a coach and they always bring in their guys. Kubiak brought in Denver guys and BOB brings in NE guys.
Well you can go the college route and take Sumlin. Or take a head coach with experience. Or take a coordinator (Shanahan?)

i wanted kyle when the search began. it's like the kubiak offense without the stubborness. then again, it can also backfire. Not having a pro bowl caliber quarterback is what a really comes down to. everything would look so much better.
