Just saw HPD kitted up and ready to go to war at Elgin and 59. Probably 50-75 cops in riot gear and a handful a couple of blocks away in full tactical gear with front and back plate carriers. Guessing this is a George Floyd thing?
Double. Photos dont do justice for how many cops were there. I didnt pull out my camera until I'd driven past most of them.
**** that man I can’t watch these vids anymore . A bow is a pretty bad self defense weapon vs a crowd unless you’re legolas .
We are. I'm on call right not to help out with medical with ad hoc first aid station set up in a cafe down the street from me but am at home for now.
LE isn't messing around. They already stopped a large march with tear gas. This march was peaceful and hadn't done anything.
I'm very worried that as these protest continue into tonight, nationwide, there will be a death toll. The question is how high? 50? 100? Who knows.
If you guys want a live view, WCCO is in the middle of it right now. The National Guard and police are trying to contain the third and the fifth precinct right now. Even in outlying neighborhoods of Minneapolis (like where I live), there are swarms of cops stationed in open parking lots, ready to deploy. What a crazy time we live in. https://minnesota.cbslocal.com/live/
They are not messing around. Not just tear gas, they are firing rubber bullets (including snipers firing them). These kids are idiots, they're going to get boxed in. The whole town is a grid. They can just surround the precincts and close in.
That video makes me want to throw up. I don't think that guy is alive, based on his posture. Whoever threw that last rock and skateboard murdered him.
I think the protests here are going to wrap up soon. The National Guard broke it all up. And thanks to these idiots, we're never going to get police reform. And a ton of businesses were destroyed in the process. What a ****ing disaster for this city. Its been years since I felt this awful. Election Night on 2016 didn't even feel this bad. If you want to help out the businesses rebuild, please consider making a contribution to the Lake Street Council. https://www.welovelakestreet.com/
Set up a little something for your local businesses and I'm sure we'd all contribute...when it comes to that and all.
Crazy thing about it is the dude seems sane when he talks. But pulling a bow out in the middle of all that probably is a bit looney :
