I think nobody sane would really trade EG in any trade for Porter.

I think we need one more wing, not necessarily someone to back up PJ. I would even prefer someone who mainly plays the three because then Clark could be the backup for PJ.

The thing is, in order to make any trade for Porter or Beal work, you would almost certainly have to package Gordon with knight just to make salaries work. Maybe you can get Oubre too but we would be sending picks for sure, hypothetically.

Starting from now, Tilman is too conservative on the bad contract, the Porter deal won't happen. Wizards are not taking Knight contract.

Liked him since he was at NC. I think he's way underrated. And I'd love to have him. Don't think Detroit would do it without a substantial asset going back their way. But I'd love to be wrong about that and pick him up.

Tilman has invested non-sense contracts in Chris Paul and Brandon Knight. He is not willing to invest Porter.

Cap is $101 million, you can't just spend $70 million in Point Guard Position, and only 10 million in SF and PF positions. It Is out of balance.

So you have to dump Knight contract to 3rd team first, then get Porter.

    Otto Porter is trash.

You're going to pay this bum 26,000,000 a year?

It's hilarious how people on this board tend to obsess over mediocre players.

    The obsession ignores salary.

You might say “WHAT!! That’s crazy!!”

And in a vacuum, sure. But we’re not in a vacuum.

We’re in a world where they’ve already gone all in in such a way that to truly balance out the roster with truly capable producing players - and you might not be in love with Porter but he’s absolutely a guy that can give you a solid 30+ minutes at the forward spots of positive net basketball - DM will either have to overspend, draft extremely well (eg Gary Clark Essie) or be incredibly lucky somehow (which isn’t out of DMs wheelhouse, but given how few moveable assets they have again will have to be very very very lucky).

Kings have expirings to make a play for Porter.

League sources said the Kings are closely monitoring the Washington Wizards with an eye on making a play for forward Otto Porter Jr.

Should Washington decide to break up its underpeforming team, the Kings would love to be in line to snatch up Porter in a fire sale. The Kings have liked Porter for some time. A contingent from the front office traveled to the East Coast to meet with Porter when he was a restricted free agent in 2017.

The Kings have the expiring contracts of Shumpert, Zach Randolph, Kosta Koufos, Ben McLemore, and approximately $16 million under the salary cap to make moves during the season while potentially providing future luxury tax relief to a team like the Wizards.

Wizards get rid of that Otto's outrageous contract.

Kings offer 28-year old Iman and 25-year old Ben McLemore

Kings offer 16MM to take Otto's 26MM salary.

Kings can also offer one of the 7 rookie contracts to Wizards.

@steddinotayto OPM perhaps getting some traction

The Wizards are still considering trading Otto Porter, according to sources of Shams Charania of The Athletic.

    Shams on Otto Porter

Depending on how the next week to two weeks shape up, the Wizards could look more aggressively toward moving Otto Porter. The Utah Jazz have been an interested suitor for Porter, league sources said.

Last 9 games since coming back from injury, averages

    16.8 ppg, 47.7% three point shooting, 5.8 rpg, 1.4 apg, 1.7 spg

Still way overpaid, but the exact SF that can slide to PF at times the Rockets need.

Don't see how the Rockets could outbid Utah or Kings, though.
