I saw an unsarcastic post by you in the Dish earlier, very uncharacteristic. I guess this explains it. I concur. If you lie a lot, nobody believes anything you say. They automatically doubt you/everything you say. Be aware of it and if you notice it then it's time to tone it down for a bit.
This thread is unsarcastic and will make some of us doubt your future sarcasm, which I think is a good thing.
I don't know if the OP was trying to be funny with the post, but I actually know someone who has this problem. He tries to be sarcastic so often that when he says anything that seems at all possible to be false we don't believe him.
Oh, sure... like you need my help. ROSS's Sarcastic Story <iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/1YISBc8TUrQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Will Ferrell Is All Busted Up Over Twilight's Kristen Stewart & Robert Pattinson - CONAN on TBS <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/QuwgoIFgQpY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> There was an episode of MadTV or SNL, I can't remember exactly which one of the two had it, but it was a convict being taken to get the death penalty execution, and... he kept on being sarcastic and it was taken literally... but... shhhhh yeah, like, you don't want to watch that.
being overly sarcastic is like being overly cynical. eventually people get tired of that sh** if that's all they can expect out of someone.
Had a meeting yesterday with my team where I'm leading this one project. I was trying to genuinely help out a few of them and it could help save some time and budget... and they dun even believe me. Could also be because they're all my senior and the only reason I'm leading this project is because of a particular skill I have that's more fitting compared to everyone else.
I have the opposite problem at work. I'm pretty serious at work so when I'm sarcastic people believe me.
I feel ya man. I used to be in the same shoes. All I can tell ya is that it's not something that get's fixed over night, especially with those older than you and I. I cried wolf (engaged in sarcasm) so many times in my life, that it took me a couple years to get my validity back. Some you might never get to take you seriously again. c'est la vie.
Mr. Brightside will show you the way. Not sure which one is worse, but it sounds easier to be less sarcastic than it does to be less serious.
