To me the production on 2001 is some of the greatest if not the greatest I've ever heard, especially considering there's no drop off imo as far as beats are concerned throughout the album. Lyrically The Chronic is better and it has the fact that it really introduced Snoop to the public aside from the Deep Cover track of course. Also it really pushed G-Funk out there as far as popularity.

    Best Tracks IMO:

    2001

    Forgot about Dre
    Still D.R.E

    Whats the Difference

    The Chronic
    Nuthin but a G' Thang
    B**chws aint S*it
    Dre Day
    Deeeez Nuts

I love both and it may be heresy but I'm gonna go with 2001. The lyrics are a tad worse but I cant go against that production. It also may be a generational thing idk.

2001 was the first album I owned. I bought that and DMX- It's Dark and Hell is Hot at the same time so maybe I'm a bit biased although I love The Chronic, I was like 2 when it dropped.

2001 - Simply because of STILL DRE and that scene from Training Day in the monte carlo.

The Chronic all day long. I think I went through 4-5 cassette tapes in my 5.0 throughout HS. The Alpine pull out just ate them up I played it so much and my 2 15"'s loved it.

wow, love this thread, practically memorized these two CD's because I listened to them at a time when your mind absorbs everything as a youth.

The Lyrics on Let me Ride are real gangsta and most of the whole CD gives you empowering feeling you get when listening it gangsta rap.

Many underrated track on the Chronic including Lil Gheto Boy and Ratatat. High Powered is still one of my faves. Lyrical g*ngbang gave me much respect for the ability of female rappers. I believe that girl came out when Snoop was at the FPSF a couple summers ago. the The pyramid is great sketch, do albums even still have those?

As far as 2001...Great Great Album. So many good rappers contributed to the album. Can I get a Xzibit GIF? And this Hitman dude is all over it but I never heard him on anything else. Underrated track? b**** *****z, Some LA *****z "Smoke big green call it Bruce Banner"

All things considered...The Chronic, no denying the gangsta feel

Both albums display why Dr. Dre gets so much respect. His beats are unparalleled and all East Coast rap aside from Biggie does not compare. You can have your Nas, Jay-Z, Talib, Wu-Tang (Shame on a ***** is good, and I like Ghostfaces' -Fishscale) and I will take the CD's with the leaf on em and Doggystyle all day.

Disclaimer: I'm as white as it gets now, but I wasn't back in the day haha

2001 was a very good album. The Chronic on the other hand is one of the best rap albums ever made.
