I wanted to create a thread where we can post stats, plays, coaching and FO moves that make this tank [2021-2022] memorable. I firmly believe, we need to tank 1 more season, to put the Rox on a fast track path to a championship. May the odds forever be in our favor...
The rockets need to practice boxing out. Not actually grab the rebounds, just box out and watch the ball roll on the floor. Only a franchise player can grab rebounds(or Westbrook). Have a promotion where lucky fans can become not an honorary rocket for the night, but a real one that gets playing time. Ryan Bowen?
You would prefer finishing in the 8 to 12th place year in year out instead ? That's what rockets were before harden with all the moves they made to win
I'm on board with the tanking. Don't want no damn 14th pick in the 2022 draft. I'm excited to see our young draft core roll with Tate, C. Wood and KPJ.
Pro Tank / Development Imagine adding another top 5-6 pick to: Green KPJ Sengun KMJ Christopher Garuba Tate Wood The goal is to find 2 superstars in this mix, and then use your remaining assets and flexibility to get a 3rd.
Yeah sure, that's how it works with teams with one first round pick per year.....but we have several We've scored big with: Tate, Kenyon, Porter Jr followed by Jalen Green, Sengun, Christopher, Garuba followed by Rockets 1st, Bucks (1st Rd pick), Nets (1st Rd pick).......whatever we get for Wall? .....whatever we get for Eric Gordon at trade deadline? Sometimes the elevator goes up and sometimes the elevator goes down. Kings have been stuck on the mid floors; while the Sixers were up and are probably coming down with Simmons leaving. Embiid, Maxey, Shake Milton, Thybulle probably aren't getting it done. 7 years of tanking has gotten them what? Number 1 seed and then dropping to 5th or 6th. Big Whoop! What goes up must come down and what is down must come up (unless you are the King's or T-Wolves). As I've said before, the NBA purgatory tends to be teams with one 1st round pick per year. We can have a team full of 1 or 2 year players.....but when has that produced? Fab-5 Michigan Wolverines. How about in the pros? NBA is where the Rockets play, not in college.
Missed the loss. Did we tank? Missed the tank. Who is the new commander (now that General Wall has resigned)?
Would that be such a bad thing next year? It would mean that we made the play-in game/s with a pretty youthful core. I think we already have potentially 2 franchise level players in KPJ and Green. Wood is a pretty good 3rd banana, and there is some other talent on the roster that could develop. The only way to know if the talent you have is star level is to get wins. I think we'll be trying to win as many games as possible next year, but because our players are inexperienced and need to grow, we will lose more than we win. That will see us mid-lottery, and with a 'swing and hope' type pick. If we get to the all-star break and have, say, the 8th worst record, then we should be tanking hard for a top 5 pick. Apart from that, shoot for the moon because it will mean that the young players are learning to be winners
this yeah is the invisible tank, where the rox seem like they trying but they just suxs and nobody notices.
forget the high picks they aint it look at minny eg KAT deangelo edwards wiggins lavine all good players /allstars but minny did nothing instead of tanking like a p*****s: learn how to draft well learn how to develop well learn how to play well learn how to coach well learn how to hire well work hard!
and imagine adding another top 5 pick after that and another after that and another after that .... rather hire a great coach ...thats plenty of talent already!! and stone proved he can find star talent even with low picks BUT without a great coaching staff AND COMPETING youll ruin the talent you have and they wont develop even if you get pick no 1 every year
wash your mouth with soap and water son stone proved he can draft(or trade for) better players with 16th pick than most gms with no 1
I want to see the youngsters play hard, improve, develop chemistry, and become a cohesive unit. If they win a few games? Gravy. I don't want them to try to lose. I don't want them to become okay with losing.
Yes, let's look at Minny or Sacramento, two historically poorly ran franchises rather than teams like the Suns, the Atlanta Hawks, the Warriors Dynasty who drafted all of their core guys with the exception of Iggy and Durant, etc etc. Lots of teams have built through tanking recently. And if you aren't LA, NY or Miami then you kind of have to.
We don't really need to tank if Green and KPJ and Sengun and Wood are really that good. Tanking is easy. We just have to see where this team is by all star break first. If all of them suck then yes we tank and start trading assets immediately. We have assets and picks to improve this team very quickly.
