Texas had no shot with Garrett or Noil. Garrett pretty much hasn't been interested since day one, and Noil was thought to be a LSU lock. He obviously wasn't, but I still doubt that he would have left the SEC, and he's enamored with A&M's offense. Don't know if we ever reached out to Allen, but I wouldn't take anyone over Jerrod Heard. That's not sour grapes - I just think he has every bit the chance to be special that any other prospect has.
I have been blown away by how much Sumlin/TheSEC has improved A&M's recruiting. A&M has the #5 class in the nation according to rivals.com. The timing of the Sumlin hire was spot on. He was the perfect coach to take the aggie football program to the SEC.
I think OU is feeling the pinch most. They seem to be losing out on some of their targets to us. More so than UT.
we'll see how they do without Johnny next year. They'll have to rely on their defense much more, which is scary.
Agreed. But for what it's worth, pretty much every team in entire conference is losing a seasoned quarterback. The Aggies trio of available QB's have about as much potential as any other program in the conference. They're unproven, they're no Johnny, but there's still a decent chance TAMU has good QB play next season.
Sumlin brought in the #1 pro style prospect. Not indicative of that player's success, but it proves Sumlin can find QB talent on his own. Talent rated higher than Manziel or Keenum ever were.
Just picked up former Texas commit (DT) Zaycoven Henderson. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>I'm Taking My Talents Texas A&M <a href="https://twitter.com/search?q=%23GigEm&src=hash">#GigEm</a></p>— Zay-Coven Henderson (@lobo5540) <a href="https://twitter.com/lobo5540/statuses/421108344808812545">January 9, 2014</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> We'll see how long it lasts.

In 2016, Sumlin will be coaching the Aggies. Remember that his new contract states that he cannot go to the NFL for three years.
It just says the NFL. It doesn't say anything about jumping to another school. If USC, Florida, Michigan, Oregon, etc opens up, it might be hard for him to say no this time around.
